Object to Your Affection
Recently a guy in one of my classes defended objectification of women on the grounds that if he cares for a girl, he will treat her like he treats his most treasured objects; he used his coat as an example. He said that he loved his coat, he wouldn’t let it touch the ground, and he took great care of it; he would do the same for any girl he cared about, for “his girl.” [excerpt
An Aching for Affection
As humans, we’ve needed companionship from the beginning of time. Therefore, what does a true relationship look like in today’s society? In this world of newly emerging relationships, many people have either experienced, seen, or heard of a toxic relationship. This article dives deep into what makes a toxic relationship, how to notice the red flags, and how to ultimately fix or end it
Vestibular recruitment
Vestibular recruitment is defined through the analysis of several references. It is concluded that vestibular recruitment is an objective phenomenon which manifests itself during the affection of the vestibular receptor and thus serves as a diagnostic tool during affection of the vestibular system
Relationship Quality among Married Couples
Having a high quality relationship is a key part of a marriage. In this project, I performed an econometric analysis to determine what impacts a couple\u27s relationship quality. Using a survey of Married and Cohabiting Couples created by the National Center for Family and Marriage Research, a regression model was estimated. The conclusions of this study were that listening, communicating well, showing love and affection, and encouragement are all important factors in determining relationship quality among married couples
On the long-range gravity in warped backgrounds
In this paper the Randall-Sundrum model with brane-localized curvature terms
is considered. Within some range of parameters a compact extra dimension in
this model can be astronomically large. In this case the model predicts small
deviation from Newton's law at astronomical scales, caused by the massive
modes. The existence of this deviation can result in a slight affection on the
planetary motion trajectories.Comment: LaTeX, 9 pages, typos corrected, reference adde
Prediction of palm-tree ganoderma affection degree by reflectance spectroscopy: Proposed methodology
The aim of this study was thus to test the relevance of statistical methods to detect the variations in spectral signature of oil-palm trees correlated to Ganoderma disease, a fungus responsible of high loss of yield and trees in palm groves. The objective is too discriminate infected palm trees and to establish a ranking in the degree of infection. Some previous studies (Lanore, 2006; et Brégand, 2007) revealed that it is feasible, but the number of individuals was too small to lead to statistically reliable models; thus, it is still to confirm and validate. More especially, the present study focuses on the possibility of infected palm-tree discrimination in accordance to four sickness degrees: Healthy, Low, Medium and High infection. It will test this potential at several scales: the leaflet, the canopy, and by remote sensing. (Résumé d'auteur
Nonclassicality of noisy quantum states
Nonclassicality conditions for an oscillator-like system interacting with a
hot thermal bath are considered. Nonclassical properties of quantum states can
be conserved up to a certain temperature threshold only. In this case,
affection of the thermal noise can be compensated via transformation of an
observable, which tests the nonclassicality (witness function). Possibilities
for experimental implementations based on unbalanced homodyning are discussed.
At the same time, we demonstrate that the scheme based on balanced homodyning
cannot be improved for noisy states with proposed technique and should be
applied directly.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure

The compulsory purchase of farmland: identifying severance and injurious affection claims
In situations of compulsory purchase of farmland, claims for the injurious affection of retained land can form a substantial part of the overall claim for compensation. This paper seeks to identify the problems of identifying injurious affection and severance items, and examines how statutory provision and subsequent case law have dealt with them
