Gravity from Rational Curves
This paper presents a new formula which is conjectured to yield all tree
amplitudes in N=8 supergravity. The amplitudes are described in terms of higher
degree rational maps to twistor space. The resulting expression has manifest
N=8 supersymmetry and is manifestly permutation symmetric in all external
states. It depends monomially on the infinity twistor that explicitly breaks
conformal symmetry to Poincare. The formula has been explicitly checked to
yield the correct amplitudes for the 3-point MHV-bar and for the n-point MHV,
where it reduces to an expression of Hodges. We have also carried out numerical
checks of the formula at NMHV and NNMHV level, for up to eight external states.Comment: 8 page
Yield Model Characterization For Analog Integrated Circuit Using Pareto-Optimal Surface
A novel technique is proposed in this paper that achieves a yield optimized design from a set of optimal performance points on the Pareto front. Trade-offs among performance functions are explored through multi-objective optimization and Monte Carlo simulation is used to find the design point producing the best overall yield. One advantage of the approach presented is a reduction in the computational cost normally associated with Monte Carlo simulation. The technique offers a yield optimized robust circuit design solution with transistor level accuracy. An example using an OTA is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the work
Remark on the studies of the muon-induced neutron background in the liquid scintillator detectors
This article gives a point of view on the studies of the muon-induced
background for the underground experiments using a liquid scintillator
detectors. The results obtained are in good agreement with the data, especially
for the neutron yield production. This is the first time, when a study of this
kind successes to get the same neutron yield as the one obtained from the

Modelling the yield curve with Orthonormalised Laguerre Polynomials: A consistent cross-sectional and inter-temporal approach
This article proposes the orthonormalised Laguerre polynomial (OLP) model of the yield curve, a generic linear model that is both cross-sectionally consistent (that is, it reliably fits the yield curve at a given point in time), and inter-temporally consistent (that is, the cross-sectional parameters are shown to be consistent over time within the expectations hypothesis framework). The OLP model generalises the exponential-polynomial model for a single yield curve, as originally proposed by Nelson and Siegel (1987), and also allows for the simultaneous modelling of other same-currency yield curves that have instrument-specific differences (such as default risk), as in Houweling, Hoek and Kleibergen (2001). New Zealand data is used to illustrate the empirical application of the OLP model
The nonlinear time-dependent response of isotactic polypropylene
Tensile creep tests, tensile relaxation tests and a tensile test with a
constant rate of strain are performed on injection-molded isotactic
polypropylene at room temperature in the vicinity of the yield point. A
constitutive model is derived for the time-dependent behavior of
semi-crystalline polymers. A polymer is treated as an equivalent network of
chains bridged by permanent junctions. The network is modelled as an ensemble
of passive meso-regions (with affine nodes) and active meso-domains (where
junctions slip with respect to their positions in the bulk medium with various
rates). The distribution of activation energies for sliding in active
meso-regions is described by a random energy model. Adjustable parameters in
the stress--strain relations are found by fitting experimental data. It is
demonstrated that the concentration of active meso-domains monotonically grows
with strain, whereas the average potential energy for sliding of junctions and
the standard deviation of activation energies suffer substantial drops at the
yield point. With reference to the concept of dual population of crystalline
lamellae, these changes in material parameters are attributed to transition
from breakage of subsidiary (thin) lamellae in the sub-yield region to
fragmentation of primary (thick) lamellae in the post-yield region of

Intergenerational Equity and the Forest Management Problem
The paper re-examines the foundations of representation of intertemporal preferences that satisfy intergenerational equity, and provides an axiomatic characterization of those social welfare relations, which are representable by the utilitarian ordering, in ranking consumption sequences which are eventually identical. A maximal point of this ordering is characterized in a standard model of forest management. Maximal paths are shown to converge over time to the forest with the maximum sustained yield, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the tradition in forest management, which has emphasized the goal of maximum sustained yield. Further, it is seen that a maximal point coincides with the optimal point according to the well-known overtaking criterion. This result indicates that the more restrictive overtaking criterion is inessential for a study of forest management under intergenerational equity, and provides a more satisfactory basis for the standard forestry model.
