Written expression
We are in the midst of not one, but two, revolutions in education. The first exemplified by the present OECD project, concerns the impact of New Information Technologies on teaching and on our
understanding of the learning process. The second, one which seems at first to be far removed from the realm of NIT, is a radical reconception of the role of writing [by which we mean "written expression", not handwriting] in education and of how it should be taught.
This report, one of four on NIT and Education, focuses on the confluence of these two revolutions. Despite initial impressions to the contrary, we suspect that NIT may have a great, if not their greatest, impact in the area of writing.published or submitted for publicationis peer reviewe
WOMAN REPRESENTATION AT BUMPER STICKERS ON THE BACKS OF DUMP TRUCKS
The use of woman as a commercial object or advertisements through written expression by
the drivers at the bumper stickers on the backs of dump trucks is rapidly adopted. It is said
that the more peculiar of the written expression, the higher prestige earned by the truck
drivers. This research aims to analysis the bumper stickers on the backs of dump trucks that
use woman as an object of its written expression by using appraisal system. The data used in
this research are from blogs through online that list some bumper stickers from Jabotabek
area. The methods used to analyze the data are referential method and substitusional
method. The result reveals that the representation of woman as an object of written
expression at the bumper stickers on the backs of dump trucks always has negative
connotation, especially as an object of sexual matters by the men
A handbook from the Eduba'a: an Old Babylonian collection of model contracts
The Old Babylonian prism here published is a compendium of model contracts (and one legal provision) written in Sumerian and it is a direct expression of the scholastic legal tradition in Southern Mesopotamia
Higher Charges in Dynamical Spin Chains for SYM Theory
We construct, to the first two non-trivial orders, the next conserved charge
in the su(2|3) sector of N=4 Super Yang-Mills theory. This represents a test of
integrability in a sector where the interactions change the number of sites of
the chain. The expression for the charge is completely determined by the
algebra and can be written in a diagrammatic form in terms of the interactions
already present in the Hamiltonian. It appears likely that this diagrammatic
expression remains valid in the full theory and can be generalized to higher
loops and higher charges thus helping in establishing complete integrability
for these dynamical chains.Comment: 14 pages; V2: Appendix added with diagrammatic expression for H_{3,2
Measurement of temperature profiles in hot gases and flames
Computer program was written for calculation of molecular radiative transfer from hot gases. Shape of temperature profile was approximated in terms of simple geometric forms so profile could be characterized in terms of few parameters. Parameters were adjusted in calculations using appropriate radiative-transfer expression until best fit was obtained with observed spectra
