Improve the Work Effectiveness with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (Oee) as the Basis for Optimizing Production

PT Yamaha Motor Electronics (PT YME) adalah Perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang pada pembuatan otomotif kendaraan bermotor roda dua. Perusahaan ini menghasilkan suku cadangelektronik untuk kendaraan bermotor.Beberapa produk mencakup ecu cdi/, pengapian kumparan, Starting Motor, stator dan rotor. Sebagai produsen , Perusahaan tidak terlepas dari masalah efektivitas produk .Masalahnya adalah ketidak seimbang antara line winding sekunder dengan line berikutnya.Pada saat hal ini terjadi maka menyebabkan terjadi downtime yang akan menyebabkan turunnya efektivitas.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dari pekerjaan dan kegiatan untuk pengolahan data dan settlement issues.Dari analisis yang dilakukan di PT YME , diperoleh nilai oee pada agustus 2014 , nilai rata-rata dari line 1 sebesar 79.95 % dan rata-rata line 2 adalah 75.48 % .Nilai oee dari line 1 berkisar antara 68.34 %. 85.58 % dan untuk line 2 berkisar antara 54.95 % -83.91 %. Nilai oee masih di bawah 85 % menunjukkan bahwa kinerja mesin, operator dan metode belum maksimal .Perusahaan perlu meningkatkan nilai OEE menjadi > 85 %. Perusahaan perlu melakukan perbaikan di Set-Up losses yang menjadi penyebab kerugian terbesar diantara faktor-faktor lain di Six Big Losses. Perbaikan dilakukan terhadap lima aspek yaitu aspek orang, mesin, bahan, metode kerja, dan lingkungan. Salah satu yang telah dilakukan adalah perbaikan dalam pengumpulan data dan perbaikan metode dalam bekerja, terutama dalam SOP secara umum

Effectiveness of Corrective Work Posture in Alleviating Musculoskeletal Disorder Symptoms among Saleswomen in The Department Store

Background: Musculoskeletal complaints often occur in saleswomen who do awkward standing during work. Repair of standing position can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal pain. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of corrective work posture on alleviating musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) symptoms among saleswomen in the department store. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi experiment before and after with no control design conducted in Rantauprapat department store, North Sumatera. A sample of 30 saleswomen from the department store was selected for this study. The dependent variable was MSD scores as measured by Nordic Body Map (NBM). The independent variables were corrective work posture. The data before and after corrective work posture were compared and tested by Wilcoxon test. Results: MSD scores 1, 2, and 3 days after corrective work posture were lower than before corrective work posture, and all of them were statistically significant. The Effectiveness of Group Work Discussion to Improve the Students' Competence in Writing Descriptive Text: the Case of Seventh Grade Students of SMP N 1 Tegowanu

Teaching English focuses on four language skills namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students are expected to master those four language skills. The main purpose of English teaching is to improve the students' skills in using the language in real communication. One of the productive skills that students have to be improved is writing. In writing process, the students are expected to write grammatically, express their idea, and make the conclusion as the steps to develop rhetorical devices in the written form. The teaching writing using group work discussion gave better result as indicated by the significant statistical t-test computation that the t-obtained is higher than t-table. It is showed by looking at t-obtained is higher than t-table. The result of t-obtained is 11, 89 through the level of significant (5%). Then, the result of t-table is 1, 49. It means that the number of t-obtained is higher than t-table. The writer also concludes that the mean score of students' ability using group work discussion is 9, 05 and without using group work discussion is 4, 85. It means that group work discussion is effective to teach descriptive text to the seventh grade students of Junior High School

Work in progress: a quantitative study of effectiveness in group learning

It is generally assumed that group studies are more effective for students than individual studies. The objective of this work in progress is to quantitatively evaluate and analyze the effect of collaborative studies on individual student’s performance. This effort would help the student stimulate interest in group learning and collaboration along with exposing them towards multiple problem solving approaches while working individually or in groups. This way the students are challenged to use their existing knowledge and approach, and augment it further with the knowledge and approach provided by group partners. While there are several efforts that focus on developing new group learning techniques, we intend to study the efficacy of previously proposed techniques under various test settings for EE and CS courses without significantly diverting from the course framework

Effectiveness of the Public Work Program in Slovenia

This paper evaluates the direct effects of the Slovenian public work program on the youth. The effectiveness of the program is measured by re-employment probability. A Heckman correction of selection is applied to estimate the average program effects. The Heckman selection estimator is an extensively used method to control for selection on unobserved variables. It relies on the assumption that a specific distribution of the unobservable characteristics jointly influences participation and outcome. The results of the empirical study indicate that the public work program has a positive effect on employment in the short run. Civic Associations That Work: The Contributions of Leadership to Organizational Effectiveness

Why are some civic associations more effective at advancing their public agendas, engaging members, and developing leaders? We introduce a multi-dimensional framework for analyzing the comparative effectiveness of member-based civic associations in terms of public influence, member engagement, and leader development. Theoretical expectations in organization studies, sociology, political science, and industrial relations hold that organizations benefiting from either a favorable environment or abundant resources will be most effective. Using systematic data on the Sierra Clubs 400 local organizations, we assess these factors alongside an alternative approach focusing on the role of leaders, how they work together, and the activities they carry out to build capacity and conduct programs. While we find modest support for the importance of an organizations available resources and external environment, we find strong evidence for each of our three outcomes supporting our claim that effectiveness in civic associations depends to a large degree on internal organizational practices.This publication is Hauser Center Working Paper No. 36.
