Social Criticism in the Text Scripture of Dharmasonya
This study took a closer look at the socio-condition of the Javanese people in Surakarta at the time Dharmasonya (Ds) text was produced through a perspective of critical-sociological studies. The present Ds text was read through seeing the historical life of the Islamic religion. The main objective of this study was to probe socio-cultural life of the society in the age the Ds text was produced. The data source used was the translation of Ds text by Suratmin which was issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. To obtain the objectives, study on the Ds text was compared with other similar ancient texts of the same themes produced in the same time; these texts were Serat Wedhatama by KGPAA Mangkunegara IV (1853-1881) and Serat Tjemporet by R.Ng. Ranggwarsita. The data was analyzed through perspectives of Hermeneutic and Semiotics methods. The result shows that in Ds text, social criticism was an attempt to resist against the dynamic circumstances faced by the society at the time wherein the social status and nobility became people's life concern. Such circumstance has apparently been used at least by a stream of Islamic group to write religious text in literary form, since religious doctrine was considered as one of the powerful weapons to control the society. Thus, most people would forcefully obey and submit to the teachings of Islam based on the Sharia law
Weton Calculations as A Basis for Marriage Implementation (Case Study at Kandangmas Dawe Kudus)
This research uses a qualitative method with an Islamic Law approach which examines basic norms, implementation of basic norms, and the impact of basic norms in calculating marriage weton at Kandangmas Dawe Kudus.. Research purposes This is to describe Many people do the calculation of weton in marriages in the Kandangmas Dawe Kudus community, but researchers also found people who don’t believe or ignore the calculation of weton births in marriage, this is motivated by family, community environment, strong religious beliefs and belief in qadha and qadar. Research result: The people of Kandangmas Dawe Kudus need a wise and wise attitude to pay attention to old values or traditions such as good weton calculations and accept new values that are better and more useful so that they remain in line with the times and the values of noble Islamic teachings. As long as it does not change the faith and contradict the teachings of Islam, such traditions can be implemented and developed. On the other hand, if it conflicts with the teachings of the Islamic religion, then the tradition must be abandoned

Child's play: Harnessing play and curiosity motives to improve child handwashing in a humanitarian setting.
In humanitarian emergency settings there is need for low cost and rapidly deployable interventions to protect vulnerable children, in- and out-of-school, from diarrhoeal diseases. Handwashing with soap can greatly reduce diarrhoea but interventions specifically targeting children's handwashing behaviour in humanitarian settings have not been tested. Traditional children's handwashing promotion interventions have been school-focused, resource-intensive and reliant on health-based messaging. However, recent research from non-humanitarian settings and targeting adults suggests that theory-based behaviour change interventions targeting specific motives may be more effective than traditional handwashing interventions. In this proof-of-concept study we test, for the first time, the distribution of a modified soap bar, designed to appeal to the motives of play and curiosity, in a household-level, rapidly deployable, handwashing promotion intervention for older children in a humanitarian setting - an internally displaced persons camp in Iraqi Kurdistan. Out of five total blocks within the camp, one was assigned to intervention and one to control. 40 households from each assigned block were then randomly chosen for inclusion in the study and the practice of handwashing with soap at key times was measured at baseline and four weeks after intervention delivery. Children in intervention households received transparent soaps with embedded toys, delivered within a short, fun, and interactive household session with minimal, non-health-based, messaging. The control group received plain soap delivered in a short standard, health-based, hygiene promotion session. At the 4-week follow-up, children in the intervention group were 4 times more likely to wash their hands with soap after key handwashing occasions than expected in the counterfactual (if there had been no intervention) based on the comparison to children in the control group (adjusted RR = 3.94, 95% CI 1.59-9.79). We show that distributing soaps with toys embedded inside, in a rapidly deployable intervention, can improve child handwashing behaviour in a humanitarian emergency context. Further studies are needed to determine the longer-term behavioural and health impact of such an intervention when delivered at a greater scale in a humanitarian context
KEJAWEN SCIENCE IN JAVANESE MARRIAGE AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD HARMONY HOUSEHOLD HARMONY
This article discusses the application of kejawen science in marriage. The purpose of writing this article is why some Javanese people still believe and practice kejawen science, especially in marriage, whether kejawen science has an impact on household harmony. Type of qualitative article, object of research in Kotabaru Village, Central Lampung, phenomenological study approach method, primary data sources are parents of married couples, religious leaders and community leaders. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the Javanese community still believes and applies kejawen science in marriage. The reason is that it is believed that married couples have different wetons, have conflicting characters and traits, so the implication is that marriage is full of conflict and ends in divorce. Believing in Islamic divination is contradictory and forbidden for the reason of polytheism. Keywords: Kejawen Science, Marriage, Household Harmony
The Application of Kafā’ah and Weton in the Socio-Legal Development of Marriage Law in East Java
Kafā’ah (equivalence) constitutes a fundamental principle in Islamic marriage law, aimed at ensuring compatibility between the bride, the groom, and their respective guardians. In East Java, this principle intersects with the cultural practice of calculating weton a Javanese astrological system used to predict harmony and marital success demonstrating how religion and local traditions converge in shaping marital norms. This study aims to analyze the integration of weton practices into the concept of kafā’ah within the socio-legal framework of Islamic marriage law in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach, it draws on socio-legal analysis of primary Islamic legal sources, local customs, and state regulations. The data were obtained through document analysis, literature review, and interviews with religious leaders and community figures in East Java. The findings reveal that weton calculation is widely regarded as a cultural expression of kafā’ah, reflecting communal efforts to preserve marital harmony. Although rooted in tradition, it is often interpreted through a religious lens, thereby shaping community perceptions of marriage readiness. This dynamic interplay between Islamic jurisprudence and Javanese wisdom not only sustains local traditions but also enriches the understanding of compatibility in Indonesian marriage law. The study emphasizes the importance of incorporating cultural context into legal development, illustrating how practices such as weton serve to bridge the normative framework of Islamic law with the socio-cultural realities of Indonesia
MATH AND MATE IN JAVANESE PRIMBON: ETHNOMATHEMATICS STUDY
Marriage is an essential part of life for most people. In the Javanese tradition, great attention is paid to the weton of the couple through Javanese Primbon. It predicts the fate of the couple in the marriage. This prediction of the Javanese outcome after the wedding has some numerical values. Therefore, this study aims to uncover these numerical values using ethnomathematics. This research uses a qualitative method. Analyzing the Javanese Primbon documents is meant to explore the numerical value of Javanese people. Also, analyzing the data using the Javanese Primbon documents was not only based on the interpretation of the researcher but also the result of discussions with cultural and mathematical experts. This study proposes numerical values such as number bases, remainder theorem, modulo, and modulus of the congruence in formal mathematics, which is associated with matchmaking using Javanese Primbon
PENETAPAN WALI ‘ADHAL DI PENGADILAN AGAMA PONOROGO KARENA MASALAH HITUNGAN JAWA DALAM PERSPEKTIF HUKUM ISLAM
The sustainability of human life will not be able to last long unless it is maintained by good and quality generations. It is impossible for a good and quality generation to be born except from a marriage and family that is intact and harmonious, has strong faith, is obedient to worship and has noble character. Therefore, the marriage of Adha is the only best way to give birth to a chosen generation and multiply offspring according to the guidance of Islam.
In marriage there are five pillars that must be fulfilled, namely: 1) the bride and groom, 2) two witnesses, 3) the guardian of the woman, 4) consent, 5) kabul. The requirement for a guardian in marriage is basically the agreement of the majority of scholars, except for the Hanafi Madhab which does not require a guardian for women, especially if the woman is an adult and is able to take responsibility for her every word and deed.
In fact, the marriage guardian is often a problem or obstacle in carrying out a marriage because the most entitled marriage guardian is not willing or refuses to be a guardian for the prospective bride for various reasons, both reasons justified by sharia and those not justified by the law. syar'i which is called the guardian of 'Adhal.
The majority of Javanese people still use Javanese traditional traditions, in essence, customary law itself is a tradition that has been rooted in society before Islam came to Java. So do not be surprised, if in worship practices and muamalah, especially in the case of marriage, they still use Javanese customs. For the Javanese people, marriage is a very sacred thing, so in marriage there are some who still believe in the terms of the compatibility of the weton.
If the Javanese calculations between the prospective groom and the prospective bride do not match, then the marriage will never take place. They believe that if they do it, bad things will happen to them. The basis used by the community in Javanese calculations in Adha marriages is the beliefs of the predecessors or elders that are passed on to their descendants, and take from the customs in the community. Most of them just take the existing traditions

A reflective analysis of the Losarang-Indonesian Dayak community’s thinking culture in selecting a life partner
This research uses a realistic ethnographic design to examine the culture of mathematical thinking in determining the match between partners for marriage in the Losarang-Indonesian Dayak community. Data were collected through field notes, in-depth interviews, and observation. Ethnomathematics as a research genre reveals important universal elements of mathematical activity, while ethnomodelling reflects ideas and the practice of community mathematics through ethical, emic, and dialectical approaches. The findings of this research indicate that ethnomathematically, the Losarang-Indonesian Dayak community have used formal language on mathematical principles to develop a knowledge system capable of sorting, pairing, calculating, and comparing the suitability of partners based on birth. Ethnomodelling is a relevant mathematical idea and concept related to arithmetic operations, sets, relations, functions, and number comparisons. Furthermore, the implication of this research is to produce didactic situations to teach the concepts of arithmetic operations, sets, relations as well as functions, and number comparisons. The didactic situation of the customary patterns of the Losarang-Dayak community can also be presented in mathematics teaching materials based on local culture. Therefore, the successful conduction of this research can enrich the repertoire of developing school mathematics learning that focuses on local culture
