    Get PDF
This study aims to provide an overview of the citation rate of arXiv.org since its launch in August 1991, based on the Scopus citation database. The total number of citations to arXiv in Scopus in the 26 year period was 135,782 of which the highest number of citations was 23,288 in 2016. It is also shown that arXiv-deposited papers are highly cited by physics and astronomy, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. It can be seen that researchers from the United States, Germany, China, United Kingdom, France, and Italy cite arXiv-deposited papers more than others. The analysis of document types indicates that articles rank first with 69% of all Scopus documents citing arXiv from 1991-2016, followed by conference papers (24.7%), reviews (3.2%), and book chapters (1.5%). It can be concluded that arXiv is cited increasingly by different subject areas, by different languages (especially English, Chinese and French), and by various countries

Choosing the right title for a paper is essential for attracting readers and receiving citations, and various studies have been done on this subject. This research sought those papers citation rate with the country name ‘Iran’ in their title published during 2010-2014 using Web of Science citation index. It tried to identify highly cited papers, disciplines, distribution of papers by type and geography of the paper with this feature. Moreover, it observed the relationship between Iranian and international authors in the production of such papers and their citation rate. Using scientometric method, 12,026 papers with the word ‘Iran’ in the titles were examined, and their Web of Science database citations were analyzed from 2010 to 2014. Citation rates of papers written by Iranian researchers and researchers from other countries were compared according to the research questions. The results showed that the majority of these papers were produced in Iran, and among foreign countries, the United States had the highest share in producing such papers. Most of these papers were in geology, occupational health, and environmental science. Moreover, it was revealed that citation rate for papers containing Iran in the title has decreased over the years and the downward trend has been similar for national and international studies

    Get PDF
The role of self-efficacy in different task and organizational settings has largely been highlighted, especially in searching for information by web users. The current research was conducted to reemphasize the mentioned role and also to show possible relationship existing between the sense of self-efficacy and success in information searching. A survey was conducted in a sample of post-graduate students at Shahed University, Tehran, Iran. Factor analysis using Structural Equation Modeling by PLS software showed high factor loadings related to all of the items indicating goodness of fit for all of them. The scale was validated according to the structural and overall goodness of fit indicating a high quality of measuring the variable in the context studied. The results of the study reflect the importance of studying the students’ searching behavior as it is now possible to help them improve their information searching and evaluating skills, which are largely related to their sense of efficacy. The more self-efficacy they have, the more success in information searching could be expected. Designers of information systems, managers of instructional programs related to information searching, psychologists and the like could find the research results of interest in their professional operations

Contemporary conception of information has been studied for decades. Starting from legal viewpoint, purpose of this article is to provide methodological understanding of the conception and classification of information in the domain of law, and the challenge it poses to the traditional legal system. In this article, information is classified into five categories according to the value it has and by whom it is held: information with positive value, value-neutral information, valueless information, information with negative value, and information with disputable value in different communities. The article analyzes the legal gaps accompanied by the proliferation of information systems, i.e., the lag of a legal notion, the legislative gap, and the jurisdictional gap. There has not been adequate preparedness to respond to cybercrime. The process of recognition and acceptance requires much time. The imperative requirement is for people to be well informed about the loopholes the legal system has and how they can be altered
