Stress appraisal, coping, and work engagement among police recruits: an exploratory study.
This study investigated the influence of stress appraisal and coping on work engagement levels (Absorption, Vigour, and Dedication) of police recruits. Participants were 387 men, ages 20 to 33 yr. (M = 24.1, SD = 2.4), in their last month of academy training before becoming police officers. Partially in support of predictions, work engagement was associated with Stressor control perceived, but not Stress intensity experienced over a self-selected stressor. Although the three dimensions of work engagement were explained by Stressor control and coping, Absorption was the dimension better explained by these variables. Police recruits reporting higher Absorption, Vigour, and Dedication reported using more Active coping and less Behavioural disengagement. Results showed that stress appraisal and coping are important variables influencing work engagement among police recruits. Findings suggested that future applied interventions fostering work engagement among police recruits should reinforce perceptions of control over a stressor as well as Active coping strategies
Comparing two work-engagement scales: Relationships with job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and workaholism
Although research on work engagement has made great progress over the past 10 years, how best to measure work engagement is still an open question. The aim of the present study was to compare two multidimensional scales measuring work engagement: the popular and widely used Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES; Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003) capturing vigor, dedication and absorption and the newly developed ISA Engagement Scale (ISAES; Soane, Truss, Alfes, Shantz, Rees, & Gatenby, 2012) capturing intellectual, affective, and social engagement. When examining the intercorrelations of the scales’ total and subscale scores and their relationships with job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and workaholism in a sample of 130 employees, results showed that—even though UWES and ISAES total and subscale scores showed considerable overlap—they captured unique variance in the outcome variables, indicating that the two scales tap different aspects of engagement. Based on the present and previous findings (Soane et al., 2012), we recommend to use both scales when measuring work engagement to capture all aspects of the construct and gain a better understanding of how different aspects of work engagement contribute to outcomes that are of key interest to organizational and occupational psychology

日本とインドネシア,フィリピンおよびベトナムとの間で締結された経済連携協定に基づき,看護師・介護福祉士候補者の受け入れが進んでいる。本稿では在日ベトナム人看護師・介護福祉士候補者に対して,質問紙調査を行い,ワーク・エンゲイジメントの観点からモチベーションの状況の現状を分析した。日本に,外国人看護師・介護福祉士を受け入れていくためには,彼らのモチベーション向上が重要であり,日本語の聞き取り能力の向上は,内発的動機であるワーク・エンゲイジメントに直結することを明らかにした
Respon Da'i Terhadap Gerakan Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (Jai) Di Tenjowaringin Tasikmalaya
Penelitian ini mengungkapkan tentang respon da'i (pelaku dakwah) di Tenjowaringin Salawu Tasikmalaya dalam menghadapi gerakan Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI). Penelitian dengan metode etnografi ini menggambarkan respon dan strategi da'i dalam menghadapi gerakan JAI di Desa Tenjowaringin dan Kutawaringin (desa pemekaran Tenjowaringin). Para da'i merespon gerakan JAI tersebut dengan dua kegiatan dakwah yaitu dakwah defensif atau bertahan dan dakwah ofensif atau aktif. Dalam melaksanakan dakwah secara aktif para da'i melakukan empat strategi dakwah: 1) dakwah bil-hikmah atau memberi contoh berupa kata-kata maupun perbuatan yang bernilai islami, 2) dakwah bil Mauidhatil Hasanah atau dakwah dengan pemberian nasehat dan sosialisasi, 3) dakwah bil Mujadalah atau dakwah melalui dialog dan perdebatan, dan 4) dakwah bil-hal atau dakwah melalui pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM)
Analisis Pengelolaan Kredit Yang Efektif Guna Meningkatkan Profitabilitas (Studi Pada PT. Federal International Finance Rangkasbitung)
The purpose of this research is to find credit management applied by PT. Federal International Finance Rangkasbitung in order to increase profit which obtained by company. Research method which used in this research is descriptive with a quantitative approach .Object of this research is PT. Federal International Finance Rangkasbitung. The result of this research shows that the credit management that is implemented by PT. federal International finance rangkasbitung is good enough, but it is not good enough in credit analysis sector. The implementation of 5C (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition of Economic, Collateral) is less maximum and on credit saving technique is stuck. PT. Federal International Finance use only one credit saving technique, there is foreclosure collateral, and according to NPL (Non Performing Loan), PT. FIF Rangkasbitung have good NPL point below 5%. Profitability rate analysis by using health level codification formula For BPR and BI are can be told very well, although on the calculation is still fluctuating
Approaching the relationship between emotional intelligence, burnout and academic commitment in students of compulsory secondary education
Introducción. En el proceso educativo de niños y adolescentes en los centros escolares se producen numerosas situaciones personales y contextuales que afectan de manera significativa a los estudiantes en su proceso de formación. Variables como la inteligencia emocional, el burnout y engagement académico juegan un papel fundamental en la vida escolar de los estudiantes adolescentes. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue analizar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional, el burnout y el engagement académico en una muestra de 1756 alumnos pertenecientes a 12 centros públicos de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO). Método. El estudio estuvo compuesto por 1756 estudiantes pertenecientes a 12 centros públicos de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO). El presente trabajo consistió en un estudio ex post-facto de carácter prospectivo con un diseño descriptivo simple, respondiendo a un muestreo aleatorio simple. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron las versiones españolas del Traid Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24), el Maslach Burnout Inventory–Student Survey (MBI-SS) y la Utrecht Work Engagement Scale–Student (UWES-S). Resultados. Los resultados mostraron relaciones positivas entre las dimensiones de la inteligencia emocional y el engagement académico de la misma manera que negativas del burnout con ambas. A su vez, el agotamiento físico y emocional y el cinismo predijeron negativamente la inteligencia emocional al mismo tiempo que el vigor, la dedicación y absorción, lo hicieron de manera positiva. Discusión y conclusiones. Se desprende la importancia de la promoción de comportamientos adaptativos y habilidades emocionales que mejoren el desempeño escolar y la vida académica de los estudiantes en sus centros educativos
Academic performance, emotional intelligence and academic engagement in adolescents
Introducción. Durante la etapa escolar del alumnado en los centros educativos se producen diferentes situaciones personales y académicas que influyen de manera determinante tanto en la personalidad como en el rendimiento del mismo. Por ello, el estudio de variables como la inteligencia emocional, el engagement así como el rendimiento escolar contribuirá a comprender las relaciones entre dichos constructos siendo el objetivo del presente trabajo analizar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional, el engagement académico y el rendimiento escolar en una muestra de 3512 estudiantes adolescentes pertenecientes a 18 centros de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO). Método. El presente trabajo consistió en un estudio ex post-facto de carácter prospectivo con un diseño descriptivo simple, respondiendo a un muestreo aleatorio. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron las versiones españolas del Traid Meta–Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24), el Utrecht Work Engagement Scale–Student (UWES-S) y el rendimiento escolar se cuantificó a través de la nota media del alumnado.Resultados. Los resultados mostraron relaciones positivas del rendimiento escolar con todas las dimensiones del engagement académico y la inteligencia emocional, salvo con la percepción emocional; actuando, a su vez, como valor predictivo de la dedicación a las tareas académicas.Discusión y conclusiones. Se desprende la necesidad de promover comportamientos adaptativos en el aula como facilitadores de las actitudes positivas hacia el desempeño escolar y mejora del desarrollo integral y rendimiento escolar de los estudiantes
Burnout and study engagement among medical students at Sun Yat-sen University, China: A cross-sectional study.
This study aims to investigate burnout and study engagement among medical students at Sun Yat-sen University, China.A cross-sectional survey was conducted among undergraduate medical students of Sun Yat-sen University, China. A total of 453 undergraduate students completed a self-administered, structured questionnaire between January and February, 2016. Burnout and study engagement were measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) and the UTRECHT Work Engagement Scale-Students (UWES-S), respectively. Subjects who scored high in emotional exhaustion subscale, high in cynicism subscale, and low in professional efficacy subscale simultaneously were graded as having high risk of burnout. Independent sample t tests and chi-square tests were used to compare the differences in burnout and work engagement between genders, majors, and grade levels.The means (standard deviations) of the MBI-SS subscales were 3.42 (1.45) for emotional exhaustion, 2.34 (1.64) for cynicism, and 3.04 (1.30) for professional efficacy. The means (standard deviations) of the UWES-S subscales were 3.13 (1.49) for vigor, 3.44 (1.47) for dedication and 3.00 (1.51) for absorption. Approximately 1 in 11 students experienced a high risk of burnout. There were no statistically significant gender differences in burnout and study engagement. There were also no statistically significant differences in burnout and study engagement subscales according to student major. Students in higher grades displayed increased burnout risk, higher mean burnout subscale score of cynicism, lower mean burnout subscale score of professional efficacy, and decreased mean study engagement subscale scores of dedication and absorption. There were strong correlations within study engagement subscales.Chinese medical students in this university experience a high level of burnout. Students at higher-grade level experience more burnout and decreased study engagement compared with students in lower level
Validación de la escala UWES-9 en profesionales de la salud en México
Objetivo. Examinar las propiedades psicométricas de la escala breve del engagement o entusiasmo laboral en
el trabajo (UWES-9) en comparación con la escala original (UWES-15), en una muestra de profesionales de la
salud en México. Método. Se aplicaron las escalas UWES-15 y UWES-9 a una muestra de 475 profesionales
del sector salud de México, pertenecientes al Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (n = 249) y la Secretaría
de Salud (n = 226). Resultados. Los resultados del análisis factorial confirmatorio multigrupo confirmaron la
estructura trifactorial (vigor, dedicación y absorción) de ambas escalas. Además, la UWES-9 mostró índices
de ajuste significativamente mejores que los obtenidos en la versión larga, siendo la estructura invariante en
ambas instituciones. Conclusión. Se confirma la validez de la medida breve de la escala UWES en profesionales
de la salud mexicanos.Objective. To examine the psychometric properties of the short scale of engagement at work (UWES-9)
compared to the original scale (UWES-15) in a sample of health professionals in Mexico. Method. The UWES-
15 and UWES-9 scales were applied in a sample of 475 professionals who belonged to two health institutions
in Mexico: Mexican Institute of Social Security (n = 249) and Secretary of Health (n = 226). Results. The results
from the MultiGroup Confirmatory Factor Analyses confirmed the three-factorial structure (vigor, dedication and absorption) in both scales. In addition, the UWES-9 showed rates of adjustment significantly better to those
obtained in the long version, being the structure invariant in both institutions. Conclusion. The validity of the
short measure of the UWES in Mexican health professionals is confirmed.Escopo. Examinar as propriedades psicométricas da escala breve do engagement ou entusiasmo laboral no

Resultados. Os resultados da Análise Fatorial Confirmatório Multi-Grupo confirmaram a estrutura tri-fatorial
(vigor, dedicação e absorção) de ambas escalas. Além, a UWES-9 mostrou índices de ajuste significativamente
melhores que os obtidos na versão longa, sendo a estrutura invariante em ambas instituições. Conclusão. Foi
confirmada a validez da medida breve da escala UWES em profissionais da saúde mexicanos
