Chiral Transparency
Color transparency is the vanishing of initial and final state interactions,
predicted by QCD to occur in high momentum transfer quasielastic nuclear
reactions. For specific reactions involving nucleons, the initial and final
state interactions are expected to be dominated by exchanges of pions. We argue
that these interactions are also suppressed in high momentum transfer nuclear
quasielastic reactions; this is ``chiral transparency". We show that studies of
the reaction could reveal the influence of chiral
transparency.Comment: 20 pages, three figures available by fax from

Color Transparency
Color transparency is the vanishing of nuclear initial or final state
interactions involving specific reactions. The reasons for believing that color
transparency might be a natural consequence of QCD are reviewed. The main
impetus for this talk is recent experimental progress, and this is reviewed
briefly.Comment: 5 pages, two figures, written version of invited parallel talk at

Method and apparatus for producing an image from a transparent object
The contrast produced from a photographic transparency is controlled by placing the transparency between a pair of partially reflecting mirrors forming walls of an optical cavity. Mirrors trap a collimated laser beam illuminating the transparency so that at least a portion of the beam energy is passed through the transparency plural times. The distance that the light beam travels between the mirrors is controlled as a function of the wavelength of the beam energy to control the phase of light interference in the beam passing through the transparency, thereby controlling the intensity of the beam derived from the mirror downstream of the transparency
Process transparency on construction sites : examples from construction companies in Brazil
Process transparency is the core concept in Visual Management (VM), which is one of the founding blocks of the Toyota Production System. This paper presents the
preliminary results of a collaborative research conducted between Brazil and the UK, as part of a research effort focused on the application of Visual Management in
construction. How process transparency is realized on construction sites is the main research question of the paper. The use of this concept and the implementation of the
transparency theory were investigated through multiple case studies, carried out in nine different construction companies. The findings are explained through six theoretical transparency increasing approaches. The affecting parameters in the application of, the management’s perception of and several methods in process
transparency in construction were identified. Further work, especially exploring the functions of process transparency on construction sites and reflecting the worker perception of the issue, is necessary to elaborate the process transparency concept
Water Transparency Protocol
The purpose of this resource is to determine the transparency of water. Students measure water transparency at their undisturbed study site using a transparency tube or Secchi disk. Educational levels: Primary elementary, Intermediate elementary, Middle school, High school
Asbestos Trust Transparency
Originally and for many years, the primary defendants in asbestos cases were companies that mined asbestos or manufactured amphibole-containing thermal insulation. Hundreds of thousands of claims were filed against the major asbestos producers, such as Johns-Manville Corp., Owens Corning Corp., and W.R. Grace & Co. By the late 1990s, asbestos litigation had reached such proportions that the U.S. Supreme Court noted the “elephantine mass” of cases and referred to the litigation as a “crisis.” Mass filings pressured “most of the lead defendants and scores of other companies” into bankruptcy, including virtually all manufacturers of asbestos-containing thermal insulation. Following a 2000–2002 wave of bankruptcies among asbestos manufacturers, plaintiffs’ lawyers began “a search for new recruits to fill the gap in the ranks of defendants.” Many of today’s asbestos defendants are formerly peripheral or new defendants associated with chrysotile-containing products “such as gaskets, pumps, automotive friction products, and residential construction products.” One plaintiffs’ attorney described the asbestos litigation as an “endless search for a solvent bystander.” This Article argues for legislation, such as that enacted in many states, that requires asbestos plaintiffs to pursue quick compensation from the trusts and allows trust-related exposures and compensation to be properly accounted for in asbestos-related personal injury cases. States with substantial asbestos litigation, such as California, Illinois, New York, and Missouri, need the legislation the most
Pionic Color Transparency
We use a semi-classical approximation to investigate the effects of color
transparency on pion electroproduction reactions. The resulting reduced nuclear
interactions produce significant, but not dominating, differences with the
results of conventional distorted-wave, Glauber-type treatments at kinematics
accessible to Jefferson Laboratory. Nuclear effects that could mimic the
influence of color transparency are also discussed.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure
