Non-Magnetic Spinguides and Spin Transport in Semiconductors
We propose the idea of a "spinguide", i.e. the semiconductor channel which is
surrounded with walls from the diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) with the
giant Zeeman splitting which are transparent for electrons with the one spin
polarization only. These spinguides may serve as sources of a spin-polarized
current in non-magnetic conductors, ultrafast switches of a spin polarization
of an electric current and, long distances transmission facilities of a spin
polarization (transmission distances can exceed a spin-flip length). The
selective transparence of walls leads to new size effects in transport.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Risk based capital allocation
In this paper, we focus on the economic research of corruption. In the first part, we define corruption, types of corruption, its factors and ways to measure it. This section brings together various definitions by notable authors of this domain, such as Begovic, Tanzi, Mauro or Lambsdorff. Before moving to the second section, we are presenting definitions, typologies and factors already researched by acclaimed authors. In the second part, we focus on the channels by which corruption transmits its effects through the economy. This section consists of two major sub-parts, the first one in which we take part in a vivid scientific discussion with the ‘’apologists’’ of corruption, i.e. with those economists who underline positive roles of corruption. In the second sub-part of the second section, as a logic continuation of the previous sub-part, we are listing three important consequences of rampant corruption in one economy: consequences to economic growth, foreign direct investments and economic efficiency. Major contribution of this paper is compilation of significant scientific discoveries in the area, as well as bringing new arguments in the discussion on the economic consequences of corruption. The paper uses traditional approach of the New institutional economics (NIE), by underlining the importance of governance, transaction costs and rent seeking.corruption, institutional capacities, new institutional economics, transaction costs, FDI
Selective Transparence of Single-Mode Waveguides with Surface Scattering
A random surface scattering in a one-mode waveguide is studied in the case
when the surface profile has long-range correlations along the waveguide.
Analytical treatment of this problem shows that with a proper choice of the
surface, one can arrange any desired combination of transparent and
non-transparent frequency windows. We suggest a method to find such profiles,
and demonstrate its effectiveness by making use of direct numerical
simulations.Comment: RevTex, 3 pages including 2 ps-figure
The Method of Construction of Ukrainian Business-system Profile
Under conditions of crisis transformations at the national level, the absence of constant trends of development of economy and business-system as a whole there was carried out the analysis of Ukrainian business-system functioning in the context of 8 world ratings (business doing easiness; rating of national brands; rating of global competitiveness; rating of budget transparence; rating of investment attractiveness; rating of autosorcing attractiveness; index of economic freedoms; index of trade facilitation) that gives a possibility to assess the place of Ukraine in the global conditions of development comparing with the state of business-system development in other countries of the world
