Effective Systems Engineering Training
The need for systems engineering training is steadily increasing, as both the defense and commercial markets take on more complex "systems of systems" work. A variety of universities and commercial training vendors have assembled courses of various lengths, format, and content to meet this need. This presentation looks at the requirements for systems engineering training, and discusses techniques for increasing its effectiveness. Several format and content options for meeting these requirements are compared and contrasted, and an experience-based curriculum is shown
Spacelab mission dependent training parametric resource requirements study
Training flows were developed for typical missions, resource relationships analyzed, and scheduling optimization algorithms defined. Parametric analyses were performed to study the effect of potential changes in mission model, mission complexity and training time required on the resource quantities required to support training of payload or mission specialists. Typical results of these analyses are presented both in graphic and tabular form
Requirements for the provision of initial teacher training courses in Wales : literacy and numeracy issues
"The Welsh Government is consulting on proposals to introduce a
replacement for the Criteria for Initial Teacher Training Accreditation
by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales 2006, as
amended. This would introduce revised requirements for the
provision of initial teacher training courses in Wales. They would
include statutory requirements for the assessment of trainees’
personal literacy and numeracy skills and ensure that the teaching of
literacy and numeracy forms an integral part of initial teacher training
courses. The proposals include a number of supporting changes and
updating amendments.
Similar requirements are also proposed for the Employment-based
Teacher Training Scheme 2012 when implemented. The introduction
of this scheme was consulted on previously between 11 November
2011 and 31 January 2012; the Minister for Education and Skills
announced on 19 March 2012 his intention to proceed with a new
employment-based teacher training programme which would require
the implementation of the 2012 Scheme" - inside front cover
Development and analysis of a modular approach to payload specialist training
A modular training approach for Spacelab payload crews is described. Representative missions are defined for training requirements analysis, training hardware, and simulations. Training times are projected for each experiment of each representative flight. A parametric analysis of the various flights defines resource requirements for a modular training facility at different flight frequencies. The modular approach is believed to be more flexible, time saving, and economical than previous single high fidelity trainer concepts. Block diagrams of training programs are shown
Gamified cognitive control training for remitted depressed individuals : user requirements analysis
Background: The high incidence and relapse rates of major depressive disorder demand novel treatment options. Standard treatments (psychotherapy, medication) usually do not target cognitive control impairments, although these seem to play a crucial role in achieving stable remission. The urgent need for treatment combined with poor availability of adequate psychological interventions has instigated a shift toward internet interventions. Numerous computerized programs have been developed that can be presented online and offline. However, their uptake and adherence are oftentimes low.
Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a user requirements analysis for an internet-based training targeting cognitive control. This training focuses on ameliorating cognitive control impairments, as these are still present during remission and can be a risk factor for relapse. To facilitate uptake of and adherence to this intervention, a qualitative user requirements analysis was conducted to map mandatory and desirable requirements.
Methods: We conducted a user requirements analysis through a focus group with 5 remitted depressed individuals and individual interviews with 6 mental health care professionals. All qualitative data were transcribed and examined using a thematic analytic approach.
Results: Results showed mandatory requirements for the remitted sample in terms of training configuration, technological and personal factors, and desirable requirements regarding knowledge and enjoyment. Furthermore, knowledge and therapeutic benefits were key requirements for therapists.
Conclusions: The identified requirements provide useful information to be integrated in interventions targeting cognitive control in depression
Improving Workplace Expertise to Meet Increasing Customer Requirements: The Impact of Training
This article focuses upon the training of engineers at a factory producing integrated circuits. Inadequate use of statistical process techniques by the engineers meant that the production process was not being optimised in the context of increasing customer requirements. A training needs analysis was undertaken and a training programme was developed, implemented and evaluated. The results of this programme are presented and conclusions drawn
Working Welfare Recipients: A Comparison of the Family Support Act and the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act
This Note compares the work requirements of the Family Support Act ( FSA ) with those promulgated by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act ( PRWORA ) This Note concludes that the fairest and most effective welfare program offers a combination of work, education, and training, and proposes suggestions for implementing the existing work requirements to ensure long-term self sufficiency for welfare recipients
