TOWARDS USER DEFINED PRIVACY IN LOCATION-AWARE PLATFORMS

    No full text
Abstract: The basic concept of the “Wireless Internet ” is a system by which users are offered easy and efficient access to the Internet from small, convenient handheld devices. It is predicted that this will open a huge market for location-aware services. But Internet subscribers are already concerned about their privacy. Therefore location-aware services will only succeed if the privacy of the user can be guaranteed. In this paper we present a privacy architecture that enables subscribers of a location-aware infrastructure to define their own privacy policy. Key advantages of our concept are: (a) user defined access rights for privacy relevant infrastructure components and (b) a privacy document signed by both sides so that non-repudiation and enforcement of the privacy policy become feasible. 1
