    The Splitting Subspace Conjecture

We answer a question by Niederreiter concerning the enumeration of a class of subspaces of finite dimensional vector spaces over finite fields by proving a conjecture by Ghorpade and Ram.Comment: 12 pages, Corrected factor of (1-q) in L=R expression in proof of Theorem 3.

Subspace Polynomials and Cyclic Subspace Codes

Subspace codes have received an increasing interest recently due to their application in error-correction for random network coding. In particular, cyclic subspace codes are possible candidates for large codes with efficient encoding and decoding algorithms. In this paper we consider such cyclic codes and provide constructions of optimal codes for which their codewords do not have full orbits. We further introduce a new way to represent subspace codes by a class of polynomials called subspace polynomials. We present some constructions of such codes which are cyclic and analyze their parameters

Enumeration of Linear Transformation Shift Registers

We consider the problem of counting the number of linear transformation shift registers (TSRs) of a given order over a finite field. We derive explicit formulae for the number of irreducible TSRs of order two. An interesting connection between TSRs and self-reciprocal polynomials is outlined. We use this connection and our results on TSRs to deduce a theorem of Carlitz on the number of self-reciprocal irreducible monic polynomials of a given degree over a finite field.Comment: 16 page

On compact splitting complex submanifolds of quotients of bounded symmetric domains

In the current article our primary objects of study are compact complex submanifolds of quotient manifolds of irreducible bounded symmetric domains by torsion free discrete lattices of automorphisms. We are interested in the characterization of the totally geodesic submanifolds among compact splitting complex submanifolds, i.e. under the assumption that the tangent sequence splits holomorphically over the submanifold.Comment: Accepted for publication in SCIENCE CHINA Mathematic
