    EDMS Use in Local E-Government: Extent of Use and Overall Performance Mediated by Routinization and Infusion

    This study analyzes the effects of several post-adoption behaviors (extent of use, routinization and infusion) on overall performance in using an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Furthermore, we test whether the routinization and infusion variables mediate the influence of the extent of use on overall performance. This research collects data from a survey answered by 2,175 employees (EDMS users) of Portuguese municipalities. The Partial Least Squares technique is applied to test the model. The results showed that routinization is directly predicted by the extent of use, whereas infusion is directly affected by the extent of use and also by routinization. Consequently, such post-adoptive behaviors are interrelated not only in a sequential process, but also in parallel. In addition, overall performance is directly influenced by routinization and infusion. Finally, an indirect effects analysis shows that routinization and infusion mediate the relationship between extent of use and overall performance

    Recent information systems (IS) publications reveal an emerging interest in studying post-adoptive system use behaviors. Compared to the well-established research stream of IS adoption and initial usage, understanding of IS use behaviors after initial implementation stage is still at its early stage. To further develop knowledge about this phenomenon, this study reviews the IS implementation stage model and a variety of post-adoptive usage concepts in extant literature. These usage concepts are classified into three types and are mapped against their corresponding implementation stages. A two dimensional view of these use concepts is then proposed as an alternative perspective to understand these post-adoptive behaviors. Implications are also discussed at the end of this paper

    Social integration and post-adoption usage of Social Network Sites An analysis of effects on learning performance

    This study calls for an expansion of the scope of educational research from superficial commitment and usage behaviour to more sophisticated levels of Social Network Sites by undergraduate students, and their influences on learning performance. The research model is validated empirically using data from a field survey of the most popular Social Network Site, Facebook. Partial Least Square (PLS) is proposed to assess the relationships between the constructs together with the predictive power of the research model. Overall, our results conclude that mutual exchange and social integration are conceived as appropriate drivers of students’ post-adoption usage and, subsequently, learning performance

    Examining Information Systems Infusion over the Routinization

    Information systems (IS) infusion becomes important from the management perspective because organizations can leverage IS investment only at the IS infusion stage. The model for the stages of IS implementation explains that IS infusion can be achieved through IS routinization. This study examined how to achieve IS infusion through routinization based on application of the psychological empowerment theory and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), respectively. This study adds value to the IS literature by explaining how IS routinization leads to IS infusion and how their antecedents are different and related across the two stages. This study also provides guidance on how organizations can promote IS infusion beyond IS routinization, which then helps organizations leverage their IS investments

    Towards theAmbidexterity of Service Processes: Implications for the Managing of IT Usage and Organization Learning

    In this study, we develop a conceptual model to illuminate how firms can better compete through service basing on a process view. In accordance with the thought of organizational ambidexterity, we firstly suggest that the efficiency and flexibility in the operation of service process are equally important for organizations desiring to achieve a superior service performance. Additionally, considering that the ambidextrous behavior of organization members is an effective mechanism to attain ambidexterity, we identify two kinds of service behaviors as the crux to promote the ambidextrous state of service processes, concerning IT usage of service personnel and learning behavior of service leaders respectively
