Spin orientation of two-dimensional electron gas under intraband optical pumping
The theory of spin orientation of two-dimensional (2D) electron gas has been
developed for intrasubband indirect optical transitions. The monopolar optical
orientation of electrons in the conduction band is caused by the indirect
scattering with virtual intermediate states in the valence band and allowance
for selection rules for interband transitions. The considered mechanism of
optical orientation is shown to be in an inherent relation with the special
Elliot-Yafet mechanism of electron spin relaxation induced by virtual interband

Developing a Research Culture and Scholarship Plan in Information Studies
Information research may take many forms. When the researchers are situated within an information technology faculty, there is a natural orientation towards the technology and the systems that make possible the use of the technology. Despite this, a focus on information itself and its effective utilisation can be achieved in an environment that may otherwise be more concerned with the technology than the information that the technology carries. This focus can contribute to research that has a systems orientation, as well as both foster and be fostered by interdisciplinary work in areas such as education, management and psychology. Here we explain the development of a research program in ‘information use’ within the Socio-technical systems theme of the School of Information Systems at QUT. Our emphasis is on the processes – research supervision, industry linkage, consultancy, grant development, conference contribution and publication - that have advanced the development of the research group. We also provide a summary of research projects in the form of models that are being developed to help illuminate the research frameworks
Marketing technologically advanced products
This paper calls for a merger of technology and marketing under a customer value perspective; for an enhancement of the traditional technological innovation orientation of the technology-based firm with a market thrust. It establishes technology-based products as product-service offerings that are derived from technological innovation. The aim in marketing technology-based products is an improved understanding of how an organization can combine a technology orientation with a customer value thrust that is common to the firm. In combining this technology and market orientation, the technology-based firm must strive to create and recreate differential customer value through product, process, service, and organizational innovation
Bell-type inequalities for cold heteronuclear molecules
We introduce Bell-type inequalities allowing for non-locality and
entanglement tests with two cold heteronuclear molecules. The proposed
inequalities are based on correlations between each molecule spatial
orientation, an observable which can be experimentally measured with present
day technology. Orientation measurements are performed on each subsystem at
diferent times. These times play the role of the polarizer angles in Bell tests
realized with photons. We discuss the experimental implementations of the
proposed tests, which could also be adapted to other high dimensional quantum
angular momenta systems.Comment: 4 page
Field-free molecular orientation by THz laser pulses at high temperature
We investigate to which extend a THz laser pulse can be used to produce
field-free molecular orientation at high temperature. We consider laser pulses
that can be implemented with the state of the art technology and we show that
the efficiency of the control scheme crucially depends on the parameters of the
molecule. We analyze the temperature effects on molecular dynamics and we
demonstrate that, for some molecules, a noticeable orientation can be achieved

Examining Philosophy of Technology Using Grounded Theory Methods
A qualitative study was conducted to examine the philosophy of technology of K-12 technology leaders, and explore the influence of their thinking on technology decision making. The research design aligned with CORBIN and STRAUSS grounded theory methods, and I proceeded from a research paradigm of critical realism. The subjects were school technology directors and instructional technology specialists, and data collection consisted of interviews and a written questionnaire. Data analysis involved the use of grounded theory methods including memo writing, open and axial coding, constant comparison, the use of purposive and theoretical sampling, and theoretical saturation of categories. Three broad philosophy of technology views were widely held by participants: an instrumental view of technology, technological optimism, and a technological determinist perspective that saw technological change as inevitable. Technology leaders were guided by two main approaches to technology decision making, represented by the categories Educational goals and curriculum should drive technology, and Keep up with Technology (or be left behind). The core category and central phenomenon that emerged was that technology leaders approached technology leadership by placing greater emphasis on keeping up with technology, being influenced by an ideological orientation to technological change, and being concerned about preparing students for a technological future
