Parents Chime In: Our Self-Care Strategies While Supporting Loved Ones with Mental Health Conditions During a Pandemic
In the wake of COVID-19, that tried and true saying of âputting on your mask first before helping othersâ takes on a whole new meaning and it applies even more. We asked our Family Advisory Board members to provide thoughts on how they adapted their self-care strategies and to share tips on supporting their loved ones with mental health conditions in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before a Mental Health Crisis Hits: Creating a Family Safety Plan
A Family Safety Plan is a tool created collaboratively with your loved one with lived experience of mental health condition(s), family members, medical staff and friends. Itâs your âplaybookâ of the best ways to minimize or divert a mental health crisis. The plan is prepared when your loved one is stable and can fully contribute. The goal of the plan is to identify possible triggers for a mental health issue and actions, under different scenarios, to minimize or prevent a crisis and ensure the safety of your loved one and other family members. This tip sheet was developed by our Family Advisory Board and describes what to include in a Family Safety Plan and tips about creating one
Adulting Shorts: An Interview Tale, PART 2
Part 2 of the Transitions to Adulthood Center for Research\u27s An Interview Tale Comic depicts questions in an interview that a young adult may encounter. Please see our tip sheet, Do I Tell My Boss?: Disclosing My Mental Health Condition at Work for more information.

A Spanish translation of this publication is available to download under Additional Files.
This tip sheet was written by the Transitions to Adulthood Center for Research\u27s Family Advisory Board (FAB). The tip sheet is written for the parents and care-givers of young adults with serious mental health conditions. It provides explains why self-care is important and offers self-care tips and resources
Geometric Transitions
The purpose of this paper is to give, on one hand, a mathematical exposition
of the main topological and geometrical properties of geometric transitions, on
the other hand, a quick outline of their principal applications, both in
mathematics and in physics.Comment: 44 page
Anderson Transitions
The physics of Anderson transitions between localized and metallic phases in
disordered systems is reviewed. The term ``Anderson transition'' is understood
in a broad sense, including both metal-insulator transitions and
quantum-Hall-type transitions between phases with localized states. The
emphasis is put on recent developments, which include: multifractality of
critical wave functions, criticality in the power-law random banded matrix
model, symmetry classification of disordered electronic systems, mechanisms of
criticality in quasi-one-dimensional and two-dimensional systems and survey of
corresponding critical theories, network models, and random Dirac Hamiltonians.
Analytical approaches are complemented by advanced numerical simulations.Comment: 63 pages, 39 figures, submitted to Rev. Mod. Phy
Village transitions
The decline in traditional rural services namely the pub, Post Office and shop and the rise of ânewâ niche entrepreneurial ventures has led to some villages taking on a different socio-economic identity. This shift has led to some, including the proprietors of traditional services, to argue that villages are becoming disjointed and polarised in terms of a âthemâ (incomers) and âusâ (long term residents) culture and that this is detrimental to their survival. One solution is for traditional service providers to draw upon their entrepreneurial skills to respond to the new opportunities associated with a rural economy that is increasingly driven by consumption demand (Slee, 2005), thus helping to ensure their viability and sustainability.
A combination of primary and secondary research, however, suggests that in the main, traditional rural service providers have chosen not to do this for a combination of reasons. This paper will elaborate on these issues in the context of a wider rural literature that describes a rural renaissance (Fieldsend & Kerekes, 2011) based on a growing and increasingly affluent population (Woods, 2005) and associated business growth (Bosworth, 2010)
Effects of many-electron jumps in relaxation and conductivity of Coulomb glasses
A numerical study of the energy relaxation and conductivity of the Coulomb
glass is presented. The role of many-electron transitions is studied by two
complementary methods: a kinetic Monte Carlo algorithm and a master equation in
configuration space method. A calculation of the transition rate for
two-electron transitions is presented, and the proper extension of this to
multi-electron transitions is discussed. It is shown that two-electron
transitions are important in bypassing energy barriers which effectively block
sequential one-electron transitions. The effect of two-electron transitions is
also discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
