Slott-Agape Project
SLOTT-AGAPE (Systematic Lensing Observation at Toppo Telescope - Andromeda
Gravitational Amplification Pixel Lensing Experiment) is a new collaboration
project among international partners from England, France, Germany, Italy and
Switzerland that intends to perform microlensing observation by using M31 as
target. The MACHOs search is made thanks to the pixel lensing technique.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, proceeding of XLIII Congresso della Societa'

Systematic observation of tunneling field-ionization in highly excited Rb Rydberg atoms
Pulsed field ionization of high- (90 150) manifold states in
Rb Rydberg atoms has been investigated in high slew-rate regime. Two peaks in
the field ionization spectra were systematically observed for the investigated
region, where the field values at the lower peak do not almost depend on
the excitation energy in the manifold, while those at the higher peak increase
with increasing excitation energy. The fraction of the higher peak component to
the total ionization signals increases with increasing , exceeding 80% at
= 147. Characteristic behavior of the peak component and the comparison
with theoretical predictions indicate that the higher peak component is due to
the tunneling process. The obtained results show for the first time that the
tunneling process plays increasingly the dominant role at such highly excited
nonhydrogenic Rydberg atoms.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Observation of B0->pi0pi0
We report the first observation of the decay B0->pi0pi0, using a 253/fb data
sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the
KEKB e+e- collider. The measured branching fraction is BF(B0->pi0pi0) = {2.32
+0.4-0.5(stat) +0.2-0.3(syst)} x 10^-6, with a significance of 5.8 standard
deviations including systematic uncertainties. We also make the first
measurement of the direct CP violating asymmetry in this mode.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, submitted to ICHEP04, Beijing and Physical Review

SLOTT-AGAPE Data Processing
MEDEA Program (Microlensing Experiment Data-Analysis Software for Event with
Amplification) is here presented. It is developed to the pixel lensing analysis
used by SLOTT-AGAPE (Systematic Lensing Observation at Toppo Telescope -
Andromeda Gravitational Amplification Pixel Experiment) Collaboration. All
software components are fully automated and they can be used on-line and
off-line.Comment: Short paper to be published in the Proceedings of the MG 9 Meeting.

The slippage paradox
Buying or selling assets leads to transaction costs for the investor. On one
hand, it is well know to all market practionaires that the transaction costs
are positive on average and present therefore systematic loss. On the other
hand, for every trade, there is a buy side and a sell side, the total amount of
asset and the total amount of cash is conserved. I show, that the apparently
paradoxical observation of systematic loss of all participants is intrinsic to
the trading process since it corresponds to a correlation of outstanding orders
and price changes
Tailoring the photonic bandgap of porous silicon dielectric mirror
A systematic method to fabricate porous silicon one dimensional photonic
crystals has been engineered to have a photonic bandwidth up to 2000nm. The
observation of the tailorability of the photonic bandgap (PBG) underscores the
requirement of the large refractive index contrast for making broad PBG
structures. In this letter, we present the fabrication and characteristics of
such structures that may be promising structures for a large variety of
applications.Comment: Published in Appl. Phys. Let
