    Synthesis of large controllers using ROM or PLA generators

    This paper describes the implementation of large Moore controllers involving several hundreds of states. It is shown that ROM or PLA-based architectures yield very good time and area figures, compared with classical standard cell implementations. The PLA-based architecture has in some cases better area characteristics than the ROM-based architecture, with a critical path of the same order of magnitude, which also demonstrates the interest of the availability of such block generators
