    Pristup integraciji tehničkih prostora zasnovan na preslikavanjima iinženjerstvu vođenom modelima

    In order to automate development of integration adapters in industrial settings, a model-driven approach to adapter specification is devised. In this approach, a domain-specific modeling language is created to allow specification of mappings between integrated technical spaces. Also proposed is the mapping automation engine that comprises reuse and alignment algorithms. Based on mapping specifications, executable adapters are automatically generated and executed. Results of approach evaluations indicate that it is possible to use a model-driven approach to successfully integrate technical spaces and increase the automation by reusing domainspecific mappings from previously created adapters.За потребе повећања степена аутоматизације развоја адаптера за интеграцију у индустријском окружењу, осмишљен је моделом вођен приступ развоју адаптера. У оквиру овог приступа развијен је наменски језик за спецификацију пресликавања између техничких простора који су предмет интеграције. Приступ обухвата и алгоритме за поравнање и поновно искориштење претходно креираних пресликавања са циљем аутоматизације процеса спецификације. На основу креираних пресликавања, могуће je аутоматски генерисати извршиви код адаптера. У испитивањима приступа, показано је да је могуће успешно применити моделом вођен приступ у интеграцији техничких простора као и да је могуће успешно повећати степен аутоматизације поновним искоришћењем претходно креираних пресликавања.Za potrebe povećanja stepena automatizacije razvoja adaptera za integraciju u industrijskom okruženju, osmišljen je modelom vođen pristup razvoju adaptera. U okviru ovog pristupa razvijen je namenski jezik za specifikaciju preslikavanja između tehničkih prostora koji su predmet integracije. Pristup obuhvata i algoritme za poravnanje i ponovno iskorištenje prethodno kreiranih preslikavanja sa ciljem automatizacije procesa specifikacije. Na osnovu kreiranih preslikavanja, moguće je automatski generisati izvršivi kod adaptera. U ispitivanjima pristupa, pokazano je da je moguće uspešno primeniti modelom vođen pristup u integraciji tehničkih prostora kao i da je moguće uspešno povećati stepen automatizacije ponovnim iskorišćenjem prethodno kreiranih preslikavanja

    Automatisches Zeichnen von Graphen für modellgetriebene Softwareentwicklung

    As shown previously by Fuhrmann, there are several concepts for increasing the productivity of MDE by improving the practical handling of models. The automatic layout of graph-based models is a key enabler in this context. However, there is a striking contrast between the abundance of research results in the field of graph layout methods and the current state of graphical modeling tools, where only a tiny fraction of these results are ever adopted. This thesis aims to bridge this gap on three separate levels: specialized layout algorithms, configuration management, and software infrastructure. Regarding layout algorithms, here we focus on the layer-based approach. We examine its extension to include ports and hyperedges, which are essential features of certain kinds of graphs, e.g. data flow models. The main contribution is the handling of constraints on the positioning of ports, which is done mainly in the crossing minimization and edge routing phases. Hyperedges are represented with normal edges, simplifying their handling but introducing inaccuracies for counting crossings. A final extension discussed here is a sketch-driven approach for simple integration of user interactivity. An abstract layout is the selection of a layout algorithm with a mapping of its parameters to specific values. We discuss a new meta model allowing to specify the structure of a graph as well as its abstract layout and its concrete layout, i.e. positioning data computed by the layout algorithm. This forms a basis for efficient management of layout configurations. Furthermore, we investigate an evolutionary algorithm for searching the solution space of abstract layouts, taking readability criteria into account for evaluating solutions. The software infrastructure developed here targets the connection of arbitrary diagram viewers (front-ends) with arbitrary graph layout algorithms (back-ends). The main challenge is to find suitable abstractions that allow such generality and at the same time keep the complexity as low as possible. We discuss a possible realization based on the Eclipse platform, which is used by several modeling tools, e.g. the Graphical Modeling Framework. A web-based survey has been conducted among users of the layout infrastructure in order to evaluate to what extent the stated goals have been met. The overall feedback collected from this survey is very positive.Wie bereits von Fuhrmann gezeigt, kann die Produktivität modellgetriebener Softwareentwicklung durch zahlreiche Konzepte zur Verbesserung der praktischen Handhabung von Modellen erhöht werden. Dabei ist das automatische Layout graphenbasierter Modelle ein zentraler Schlüssel. Allerdings gibt es einen bemerkenswerten Kontrast zwischen der Fülle an Forschungsergebnissen im Bereich des Graphen-Layout und dem aktuellen Stand graphischer Modellierungswerkzeuge, bei denen nur ein kleiner Teil dieser Ergebnisse übernommen wird. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist diese Lücke auf drei separaten Ebenen zu überbrücken: spezialisierte Layout-Algorithmen, Verwaltung von Konfigurationen und Software-Infrastruktur. Im Bezug auf Layout-Algorithmen liegt der Schwerpunkt auf dem Layer-basierten Ansatz. Wir untersuchen dessen Erweiterung zur Unterstützung von Ports und Hyperkanten, was wesentliche Bestandteile bestimmter Arten von Graphen sind, z.B. Datenflussmodelle. Der Hauptbeitrag ist die Einbeziehung von Bedingungen für die Positionierung von Ports, vor allem während der Kreuzungsminimierung und der Kantenführungsphase. Hyperkanten werden durch normale Kanten repräsentiert, was deren Verarbeitung vereinfacht aber Ungenauigkeiten beim Zählen von Kreuzungen verursacht. Als letzte Erweiterung betrachten wir einen Sketch-basierten Ansatz für die einfache Integration von Nutzerinteraktivität. Ein abstraktes Layout ist die Auswahl eines Layout-Algorithmus zusammen mit einer Abbildung seiner Parameter auf konkrete Werte, während ein konkretes Layout Positionsdaten beschreibt, die von einem Algorithmus berechnet wurden. Wir diskutieren ein neues Metamodell, mit dem sowohl die Struktur als auch das abstrakte sowie das konkrete Layout eines Graphen spezifiziert werden kann. Dies bildet eine Grundlage für die effiziente Verwaltung von Layout-Konfigurationen. Zudem untersuchen wir einen evolutionären Algorithmus für die Suche im Lösungsraum abstrakter Layouts, wobei zur Bewertung von Lösungen Ästhetikkriterien ausgewertet werden. Die in dieser Arbeit entwickelte Software-Infrastruktur hat als Ziel, beliebige Graphen-basierte Diagramme (front-ends) mit beliebigen Layout-Algorithmen (back-ends) zu verbinden. Die größte Herausforderung dabei ist das Finden geeigneter Abstraktionen, die eine solche Allgemeingültigkeit erlauben und gleichzeitig die Komplexität so niedrig wie möglich halten. Wir betrachten eine mögliche Realisierung, die auf Eclipse basiert, eine von vielen Modellierungswerkzeugen verwendete Plattform. Eine Web-basierte Umfrage wurde unter Nutzern der Layout-Infrastruktur durchgeführt, um zu untersuchen inwieweit die gesteckten Ziele erfüllt worden sind.     Using Conceptual Modeling for Designing Multi-View Modeling Tools

    Multi-view modeling methods (MVMM) can cope with the increasing complexity of today\u27s enterprise and information systems by decomposing the corresponding model into several viewpoints. The combination of the instantiated views gives the whole model of the system. Modeling tools are vital for efficient utilization of MVMMs. However, sufficient support in the conceptual design of multi-view modeling tools is not given. The paper at hand introduces the MuVieMoT modeling method, dedicated towards the conceptualization of multi-view modeling tools. The method is focused on how to capture, with conceptual modeling means, the constituents of MVMMs, in terms of viewpoints, modeling procedure and consistency mechanisms specification. The method is aimed at method engineers and tool developers, bridging the gap between tool design and tool development. Applicability of the method is illustrated by a case study, hereby defining the conceptual design of a multi-view modeling tool for an enterprise modeling method

    A Generic Technique for Domain-Specific Visual Language Model Refactoring to Patterns

    As the popularity of domain-specific visual languages (DSVLs) grows, concerns have arisen regarding quality assurance and evolvability of their meta-models and model instances. In this paper we address aspects of automated DSVL model instance modification for quality improvement based on refactoring specifications. We propose a graph transformation-based visual language approach for DSVL authors to specify the matching and discovery of DSVL “bad model smells” and the application of pattern-based solutions in a DSVL meta-tool. As an outcome, DSVL users are provided with pattern-based design evolution support as refactorings for their DSVL-based domain models

    Meta-tools for software language engineering : a flexible collaborative modeling language for efficient telecommunications service design

    International audienceThe increasingly competitive environment pressures telecommunications service providers to reduce their concept-to-market time. This time is influenced by a multitude of factors. For the benefit of telecom service designers, this paper focuses on increasing the degree of automation, offering team collaboration capabilities and bridging heterogeneous technologies. To address these factors, we propose a model-based meta-tool approach, which rapidly and iteratively generates particular tools for software languages. Each language is specific to one of the viewpoints involved in the definition of a service, as identified in the Intelligent Network Conceptual Model. A flexible language prototype for service designers, that blends a higher degree of formality with creative freedom, has already been implemented. The integration of first collaboration capabilities, defined and tooled, into this language, by including the rationale behind the designers' decisions, is currently being pursued. A second language prototype, for network designers, together with syntactic and semantic (partial) automatic interoperability between these two viewpoints, are also proposed

    Generation of Simulation Views for Domain Specic Modeling Languages based on the Eclipse Modeling Framework

    The generation of tools for domain specific modeling languages (DSMLs) is a key issue in model-driven development. Various tools already support the generation of domain-specific visual editors from models, but tool generation for visual behavior modeling languages is not yet supported in a satisfactory way. In this paper we propose a generic approach to specify DSML environments visually by models and transformation rules based on the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF). Editing rules define the behavior of generated visual editors, whereas simulation rules describe a model's operational semantics. From a DSML definition (model and transformation rules), an Eclipse plug-in is generated, implementing a visual DSML environment including an editor and (possibly multiple) simulators for different simulation views on the model. We present the basic components of Tiger2, our EMF-based generation environment, and demonstrate the environment generation process for a small DSML modeling the behavior of ants in an ant hill

    Rethinking Pen Input Interaction: Enabling Freehand Sketching Through Improved Primitive Recognition

    Online sketch recognition uses machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to interpret markings made by users via an electronic stylus or pen. The goal of sketch recognition is to understand the intention and meaning of a particular user's drawing. Diagramming applications have been the primary beneficiaries of sketch recognition technology, as it is commonplace for the users of these tools to rst create a rough sketch of a diagram on paper before translating it into a machine understandable model, using computer-aided design tools, which can then be used to perform simulations or other meaningful tasks. Traditional methods for performing sketch recognition can be broken down into three distinct categories: appearance-based, gesture-based, and geometric-based. Although each approach has its advantages and disadvantages, geometric-based methods have proven to be the most generalizable for multi-domain recognition. Tools, such as the LADDER symbol description language, have shown to be capable of recognizing sketches from over 30 different domains using generalizable, geometric techniques. The LADDER system is limited, however, in the fact that it uses a low-level recognizer that supports only a few primitive shapes, the building blocks for describing higher-level symbols. Systems which support a larger number of primitive shapes have been shown to have questionable accuracies as the number of primitives increase, or they place constraints on how users must input shapes (e.g. circles can only be drawn in a clockwise motion; rectangles must be drawn starting at the top-left corner). This dissertation allows for a significant growth in the possibility of free-sketch recognition systems, those which place little to no drawing constraints on users. In this dissertation, we describe multiple techniques to recognize upwards of 18 primitive shapes while maintaining high accuracy. We also provide methods for producing confidence values and generating multiple interpretations, and explore the difficulties of recognizing multi-stroke primitives. In addition, we show the need for a standardized data repository for sketch recognition algorithm testing and propose SOUSA (sketch-based online user study application), our online system for performing and sharing user study sketch data. Finally, we will show how the principles we have learned through our work extend to other domains, including activity recognition using trained hand posture cues
