    Marriage and Graduate Student Outcomes

    This paper examines how graduate outcomes for humanities students differ by the student’s gender and marital status when they enter graduate studies. I find that being married has a positive effect on both male and female students. Male students who are married at the start of graduate school are on average 3.9% more likely to graduate by any given year and they complete their degree .32 years quicker than single male students. Married female students are not any more likely to graduate but they do complete their degree .21 years quicker than single female students

    Numerous studies have investigated the impact of class size on student outcomes. This analysis contributes to this discussion by examining the impact of class size on student outcomes in higher education. Additionally, this paper investigates the importance of student load (total number of students taught across all courses) in educational outcomes. We find that both class size and student load negatively impact student assessments of courses and instructors. Large classes and heavy student loads appear to prompt faculty to alter their courses in ways deleterious to students

    The research aim to find out : (1) Influence the intensity of the use of computers as a medium of learning on student learning outcomes in ICT subjects at Junior High School 14 Purworejo. (2) Motivation influences the use of computers as a medium of learning on student learning outcomes in ICT subjects at Junior High School 14 Purworejo. (3) Influence of media interest in the use of computers as learning on student learning outcomes in ICT subjects in the Junior High School 14 Purworejo. (4) Influence the intensity, motivation and interest in the use of computers as a medium of learning for student learning outcomes in ICT subjects in the Junior High School 14 Purworejo. This research is ex-post-facto quantitative approach. The population is all student of Junior High School 14 Purworejo totaling 570 students with sample 230 students. Methods for collecting data using questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques using simple regression analysis techniques and multiple regression three predictors. The results showed that : (1) There is a positive and significant correlation between the intensity of the use of computers as a medium of learning for learning ICT learning outcomes by 15.2 %. (2) There is positive and significant relationship between motivation to use computers as a medium of learning for ICT learning outcomes of 24.5 %. (3) There is a positive and significant correlation between interest in the use of computers as a medium of learning for ICT learning outcomes by 22.2 %. (4) There is a positive and significant correlation between the intensity, motivation and interest in the use of computers as a medium of learning for ICT outcomes 43.3 %.     Building a Bond: Longitudinal Relations between Interpersonal School Climate, Student Awareness and Reporting of Violence, and Peer Victimization and Aggression in Adolescents

    High prevalence rates and negative outcomes of peer-based aggression and victimization during early adolescence underscore the need to identify causes and consequences of these outcomes. Limited research has examined the impact of environmental and contextual factors, such as school climate, on peer aggression and victimization. Few studies have addressed relations between school climate and specific subtypes of physical and relational aggression and victimization. Although school climate has been assessed via interpersonal subsystems (i.e., student-student and student-teacher relationships), little research has incorporated the role of student awareness and reporting of violence and safety concerns. Further, studies are needed that consider the bi-directional relations between school climate and peer aggression and victimization over time. To address these limitations, the current longitudinal study examined associations between school climate (i.e., student-student and student-teacher relationships and awareness/reporting) and peer aggression and victimization over six months among a sample of 265 middle school students

    Rising college student debt levels have recently received considerable media coverage and have even been the topic of policy proposals that link rising student debt with tuition inflation. This paper examines the role that tuition, financial aid policies, and academic outcomes play in determining variation in average student debt levels across higher education institutions. A focus solely on tuition as the culprit in rising student debt misses the significant role that financial aid policies and student outcomes play in determining debt levels across non-profit higher education institutions. Specifically, being need-blind in admissions, meeting-full-need, limiting loans, and graduating students in high paying majors can have a larger impact on student debt levels than simply the cost of attendance
