Streaming Support in an Advanced Multimedia Infrastructure for the WWW

International audienceWe present an architecture for managing multiple media streams included in temporal HTML documents. The architecture provides generic services for negotiating media streams on servers, controlling their delivery, adapting their characteristics to varying network and host conditions, and synchronizing multiple remote streams. Integration of the streaming support within a synchronization architecture leads to the concept of QoP (quality of presentation) that characterizes global quality of document playback from remote servers
