The era of the new millennium has witnessed a wide range of the revolutionized technology that affects our lives and the way an organization is conducted. The contemporary business sectors start to recognize the potential use of knowledge management in the new organizational processes. As a result, increasing numbers of organizations pay attention to the creative value of leveraging knowledge as one of their potential assets. Therefore, organizations start to focus on knowledge as one of the important elements in competitive advantage that needs to be utilized efficiently and effectively. They have shown a great attention of knowledge management in their business strategy incorporated with technology. The role of technological tools and applications is essential in supporting and enhancing knowledge management strategy. There has been a transition from traditional information system to new a concept of knowledge management system employed by organization to sustain competitive advantage in dynamic and unstable environment. Further, to shift the paradigm of knowledge management systems concept from business sectors, this study focused on the KMS applications and tools particularly in Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) environment. The purpose of this study is to (a) identify the relationship of business strategy, knowledge management (KM) Strategy, knowledge management systems (KMS) strategy, information system (IS) strategy and information technology (IT) strategy, particularly in the context of IHE, (b) describe those strategies and their relationship based on the context of IHE. This will provide guidance and effective methods for formulating the KMS strategy with the aim to align it with business strategies and ensuring success of its implementation

A US strategy for IFRS adoption

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has conducted a public consultation on a â??roadmap" it proposed late last year to adopt International Financial Reporting Standards in America. This debate takes particular relevance as the crisis has highlighted the importance of accounting standards as an instrument of economic policymaking, with a high-profile controversy about â??mark-to-market" accounting. Nicolas Véron responds with suggestions about how the SEC should both support IFRS, and push for reforms of standard-setting governance and globally consistent enforcement.

One way to reduce misconceptions can be overcome by cognitive conflict learning strategies with the help of simulation practicum instead of actual practicum. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in students' misconceptions before and after learning with cognitive conflict strategies as an effort to reduce misconceptions on light material. Research sample of 31 students. Data on the degree of misconception before the study was 0, 36 and after doing research was 0.17. The t-paired test results for the mean percentage of students' misconceptions on light material before and after learning differed at a significance level of 0.05. While, the results of N-Gain calculations to student achievement increase in overcoming misconceptions on light material were 0.3, that means the average students' achievement in dealing with misconceptions are in the medium category and cognitive conflict strategies combined with simulation practicum have a strong effect on reducing students' misconceptions on light material with a range of 2.91. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that cognitive conflict strategies combined with simulation practicum can be used to reduce misconceptions that lead to increased student learning achievement. Further research is needed to explore students' misconceptions on other physics topics and can measure student misconceptions at each meeting so that students are more organized and developed in learning

Strategy of Nannochloropsis Against Environment Starvation: Population Density and Crude Lipid Contents

Nannochloropsis sp., an unicellular marine microalgae, has potential function as a food source for fish larvae and in chemical industry. Microenvironmental conditions, especially nitrogen and salinity stress in marine ecosystems, became major factor affecting the growth of Nannochloropsis sp.The aim of the experiment was to study effect of different salinities and nitrogen dosages to the growth and lipid contents of Nannochloropsis sp. cells. The experiment was arranged in factorial with three replicates. The first factor was salinity (28 ppt and 38 ppt), and the second factor was nitrogen dosage (100% and 50%). Results of the experiments indicated that nitrogen starvation and high saline concentration affected cell density of Nannochloropsis sp. in different level. The results showed that combination treatments of nitrogen starvation and salinity reduced cell density (treatmant A, B, and D), except in treatment C. Combination of high salinity and high N dosages resulted ini steady growth of Nannochloropsis sp. These results suggest that Nannochloropsis sp. are able to overcome salinity stress (38 ppt) in the presence of optimum concentration of nitrogen in the growth cultures. The results also shows that there were no significant differences of crude lipid content between treatments and no correlation between population density and crude lipid content. These results suggest that no simple correlation between population density and crude lipid concentration. On the other hand, population density was not the only factor affected crude lipid concentration in the microalgae cell

Language Learning Strategy Taxonomy Used by the Teacher in Teaching English

Language Learning Strategies is simply refers to an individual‘s approach to complete a task. This is an individual way of organizing and using a particular set of skills in order to learn content or accomplish other tasks more effectively and efficiently in school as well as in nonacademic settings. Some previously conducted research found that good language learners actively involve themselves in the language learning process by identifying and seeking preferred learning environments and exploring them. The newly adapted curriculum in Indonesia emphasizes on the discovery learning. This study is aimed to find facts dealing with learning strategies used by high achievers and underachievers, whether there are any differences between the two groups. After research was conducted, the data shows that there are some differences in the learning strategies used by the two groups. The high-achievers uses more varied strategies
