FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE ANALYSIS IN THREE ALEC BENJAMIN’S SONG LYRIC

A song is part of a beautiful literary work, it uses words that have many meanings implied in them.In a song, there can be a story or a message to be conveyed to the listeners. In addition, we can also become more motivated to do various things if we find a song that suits the conditions we are facing. Song, usually uses figurative language to make their song more beautiful and full of meaning. The research aimed to identify the type of figurative language used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics, its dominant type, and the meaning contained within them. The study focused on three research questions: "What figurative language types are used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics?", "What is the most dominant type of figurative language found in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyric?", and "What is the meaning of the figurative language used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics?" The research employs a qualitative data analysis method to analyze Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics, identifying figurative language types within the lyrics. The data was grouped into 12 types, verified by an advisor, and then explained by the researcher, highlighting the meaning within the lyrics. The result of this research show that in Three songs by Alec Benjamin contain eight categories of figurative language, with a total of 43 lyrics that have been explained. The following types of figures of speech are: Simile, Hyperbole, Metaphor, Personification, Irony, Paradox, Repetition, and Symbolic

AN ANALYSIS OF THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS ON THE CRANBERRIES SONG LYRICS

Song’s lyrics have similar form with poem. In some currant usage, lyrics still retain to sense of poem to set music. By music, people get some lesson as far as they understand and are able to catch the content or idea of the song. Song has its own characteristic and content that makes it different one and another. One of the song’s contents could be social problem. In this case, the writer took the Cranberries song, as the subject of analysis, which discusses more about the social problem. This study covers the problems of study: (1) What are social problems found in the Cranberries song’s lyrics? and (2) What is the most dominant of social problem in the song?. This research used descriptive design because the study to obtained information concerning the social problems in the Cranberries song. The approach used in this study was expressive approach for the writer of the thesis only concerned with the author in expressing the idea into his work. The population of research is lyrics of the Cranberries song in the album of Animal Instinct 1996, in which this album consisted of 15 songs. The writer took 6 songs from the album as sample using purposive random sampling. The study showed that the social problems revealed in the six songs as follows: Firstly, ‘Woman Without Pride’ song involves sex role and family problems. Secondly, ‘Ode to My Family’ has family problem. Thirdly, ‘Bosnia’ has warfare and international conflicts, ethnic minorities and violence. Fourthly, ‘Zombie’ reveals warfare and international conflicts, and violence. Fifthly, ‘Salvation’ consists of drug abuse problems. Finally, ‘Fee fi fo’ song reveals problems of sexual behavior and violence. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the most dominant social problem is violence

An Analysis of Slang Words in Song Lyrics Gun N’Roses on Album Use Your Illusion. Ismail Aji Teguh 107010010

This research paper is entitled “An Analysis of Slang Words in Song Lyrics of Gun N’Roses on Album Use Your Illusion I.” This study was intended to find out what are the slang words that appear in the lyrics of the song of Gun N’Roses and what is classification of slang words in song lyrics of Gun N’Roses on album use your illusion I. The method of the research was qualitative descriptive method. The research got the data from transcript, which was from the internet. The writer uses transcript of this song as his main sources, the sources of data are 15 transcripts of the lyrics of the song by Gun N Roses. Data obtained from the data collection through reading and comprehending the lyrics, underlining the slang words in the lyrics, learn sociolinguistics, reading dictionary of American Slang and internet browsing, and collecting the data. There are a hundred and fifty slang words that appear in the lyrics of the song of Gun N’Roses and nine types of slang words. The writer found many slang words that appear in the lyrics of the song of Gun N’Roses and the writer found many types of slang words in the lyrics. AN ANALYSIS ON COHESION DEVICES USED IN THE LYRICS OF \ud BRITNEY SPEARS’ SONGS

The purpose of this study is to describe the types of cohesion devices used in the lyrics of \ud Britney Spears’ songs and the occurrence of each type. The writer analyses song lyrics because it \ud is a kind of language use and also a kind of text. The use of song lyrics in teaching and learning \ud English is very useful. Songs make the experience of learning English an enjoyable one. \ud A descriptive research design is applied in this study. It is also a qualitative one because the \ud description on the analysis is not ordinarily expressed in quantitative terms. The population of \ud this study is 35 song lyrics of Britney Spears’ songs from each album released in Indonesia until \ud the time the writer conducts the study. Purposive random sampling is used to select 3 song lyrics \ud from the first album until the third album. A documentary technique is the instrument used to \ud collect the data. Data analysis is conducted as follows: reading, understanding, and identifying \ud all types of cohesion devices found in the lyrics of Britney Spears’ songs.This study shows the \ud following findings. Almost all types of cohesion devices proposed by Halliday and Hasan (1976) \ud can be found in the lyrics of Britney Spears’ songs. All kinds of references are found in the lyrics \ud of Britney Spears’ songs. The Kind of substitution used in the lyrics of Britney spears’ songs is \ud verbal substitution. Meanwhile the kind of ellipsis found in the lyrics of Britney Spears’ songs is \ud nominal ellipsis. And kinds of conjunction used in the lyrics are additive, adversative, causal \ud conjunctions. For the second type of cohesion devices, lexical cohesion devices, the writer found \ud only repetition as part of reiteration found in the lyrics of Britney Spears’ songs. The writer also \ud found the use of collocation in the lyrics.The writer proposes some suggestions to English \ud teachers, English students, and future researchers. The English teachers should introduce and \ud teach their students about cohesion devices and they can use song lyrics as alternative source of \ud teaching media. English students should master cohesion devices that will enable them to \ud maintain the continuity of thought and idea and also to create the effective and efficient \ud sentences. Finally, future researchers can use this study as a reference in conducting studies in \ud the same field with larger sample and population with different song lyrics, or they can also \ud study the use of cohesion devices in other sources

Gaya Bahasa Lirik Lagu Band Betrayer Album the Best Of

The purpose of this study were (1) describe the style of the language contained in the lyrics of the song the band's best album of Betrayer, (2) describe the function of a style that is contained in the lyrics of the song the band's best album of Betrayer, (3) describes a style that is dominant contained in the lyrics of the song the band's best album of Betrayer. The data of this study was fifty-four of style from all the lyrics in inventory and in previous analyzes. The findings of the study is a style that is contained in the lyrics of the song with the band Betrayer style as much as 54 languages ​​from around the lyrics of the song in the analysis. Analisis Kemampuan Berbicara melalui Metodebernyanyi di Paud Terpadu Pontianak Barat

This study aims to analyze the ability to speak through the method of singing in PAUD Integrated Pontianak West West Kalimantan Province. The method used is qualitative research method. Research subjects are children Play Groups (KB), amounting to 17 children and 2 teachers. Data collection tools are: interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis in this study using qualitative data analysis which includes: data collection, data reduction, display data, and conclusion drawing / verification. The results showed that the speaking ability of children of PAUD Playing Group of West Pontianak can be developed through the method of singing. The use of this singing method can improve children's speaking skills in terms of repeating the lyrics of the song being heard, pronouncing the lyrics of an already heard song, and answering simple questions about the lyrics of the song being heard. At the end of the study 90% of children were able to repeat the song lyrics, 65% of children were able to pronounce the lyrics of the flag, and 71% of the children could answer simple questions about the lyrics of the flag

A literature that tells of an event difficult released from the flow of romanticism. Romanticism was description or delineation of which give priority to the feeling was expressed through the event of affection, sacrifice, suffering, and happiness. The problems that interested the author of the analysis that is how is the romanticism that expresses compassion, sacrific, suffering, excitement Rossa song lyrics by using a method of descriptive. A source of data on this research is chosen album of Yang Terpilih and Harmoni Jalinan Nada dan Cerita by rossa. This research data of sentences that contain romanticism in song lyrics. Data collection of this research with engineering documentation or literature, the technique of reading, the technique of note, and techniques of identification. The data is then analyzed through technique descriptive qualitative analysis of each sentence is a load of romanticism found in song lyrics by rossa to be shown and reinforced with evidence. Of the two albums, there are 3 song is express romantic affection, 10 song that expresses the sacrifice of romanticism, 12 song which expresses the romanticism of suffering, and 5 song that express romantic excitement
