Healthy Parenting Skills Program Toward First-Time Father\u27s Skills on Caring for Newborn Baby
Purpose: This study is to examine the effects of skills training program named healthy parenting program on first time father skills. The skills are baby bath and umbilical cord care, baby blanket, burping and handling the baby, baby lullaby and replace baby clothes.Method: This is a quasi experiment study. Sampling technique is purposive sampling with 30 first time father with 0-28 days new born baby. Sample equally assigned into experimental and control groups. Subject in experimental group received healthy parenting skills program, while control group was given routine care only. The instrument is observation guideline. Wilcoxon and Man Whitney Test are used to analyze data.Result: Father\u27 skills in experimental group after receiving the program are statistically increased from before the program (bathing and umbilical cord care, baby blanket, baby burping, baby handling, baby lullaby, replace baby clothes). Conclusion: Father\u27 skills in experimental group after receiving the program are statistically increased over control group (bathing and umbilical cord care, baby blanket skill, baby burping, baby handling, baby lullaby, replace baby clothes). Suggestions are the educational efforts by health-care professionals could beneficially be directed toward fathers throughout prenatal and postpartum periods. Health center in Indonesia should initiate class program directed to father in part of program in reducing neonates and post partum mothers health problems
Liberty University\u27s Lawyering Skills Program: Integrating Legal Theory in a Practice-Oriented Curriculum
Law schools are not preparing lawyers for the practice of law. While modern legal education may teach analytical reasoning, skills training continues to suffer. The lawyering skills program developed by the Liberty University School of Law addresses the need to train lawyers in the practice of law. When seeking to build a top quality law school, Liberty University took seriously the challenge to address the void in legal education, particularly with respect to lawyering skills. The foundational principles of law are infused into the legal curriculum and lawyering skills program. The required substantive law courses are structured to have a relationship with lawyering skills so that they mutually reinforce each other

This research is a study of ex post facto. The population of the research are
students of grade XII Electronics Engineering Skills Program Academic Year 2012/2013
amounts to 69 students who entirely taken as a subject of research. Testing instruments
has implemented by 33 student of grade XI Electronics Engineering Skills Program. The
validity of the tests carries out by the technique of Pearson Product Moment correlation,
whereas the reliability test used Alpha Cronbach formula. To know how the influence of
Learning Outcomes Productive Subject with Achievement Industrial Work Practices and
the influence of Self-Reliance Learning with Achievement Industrial Work Practices can
use analysis techniques of Product Moment correlation. Regression analysis techniques
use to know the influence of Learning Outcomes Productive Subject and Self-Reliance
Learning jointly with the Achievements Industrial Work Practices.
The results showed that: (1) there is a positive influence between Learning
Outcomes Productive Subject with Achievement Industrial Work Practices students of
grade XII Electronics Engineering Skills Program at SMKN 3 Yogyakarta Academic

Iowa's Community College Basic Literacy Skills Credential Program Annual Report, 2004
The purpose of this report is to document the results of Iowa’s community college based basic literacy skills credential program for Program Year 2004 (July 1, 2003-June 30, 2004). The credentialing program is administered through Iowa’s community colleges and consists of four (4) components: (1) basic literacy skills certification, (2) Iowa High School Equivalency Diploma, (3) community college based adult high school diploma, and (4) traditional high school diploma. A brief description of each component is presented in the following sections
Breast Self-Examination Teaching for Women in Chemical Dependency Programs
Fifty-two women from 5 chemical dependency programs participated in a 1 hour health education program teaching breast self-examination using breast models. Tactile skills and general information about breast cancer and breast self-examination were presented. The program was evaluated for its ability to teach this high risk population. Nine true/false questions and lump detection skills were evaluated using_a pretest/posttest non-experimental design. A level of significance for the true/false questions was set at .01, and for lump detection skills it was set at .05. Dependent t tests was used to statistically analyze the data. Participants improved their general knowledge about breast cancer and self-examination as a result of this program (p \u3c.01). Lump detection skills also improved (p \u3c.05). This study indicates health education programs are of value and can potentially decrease the survival discrepancy for breast cancer for a specific high risk population
Building Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program: Job Training Program for Disadvantaged Workers
This pilot program in Buffalo trains entry level workers for successful placement in the building trades and skilled trades’ apprenticeship programs. As a pre-apprenticeship program, BTPAP does not attempt to replicate the specialized training that is part of an apprenticeship program. Rather, BTPAP uses a “holistic approach” to basic skills development, including construction related mathematics, job search training, and exposure to various fields of skilled labor and their professional cultures. These fields include cement masons, roofers, plumbers, steamfitters, iron workers, electricians, plasterers and carpenters. Beyond skills enhancement, this program also seeks to instill the basic awareness that construction and skilled trades are viable employment option for minorities, women, and people living in poverty. BTPAP helps build confidence in each program graduate – allowing them to reach new opportunities in the skilled labor market
Mental Health and Work: Impact, Issues and Good Practices
[From Introduction] There is growing evidence of the global impact of mental illness. Mental health problems are among the most important contributors to the burden of disease and disability worldwide. Five of the 10 leading causes of disability worldwide are mental health problems. They are as relevant in low-income countries as they are in rich ones, cutting across age, gender and social strata. Furthermore, all predictions indicate that the future will see a dramatic increase in mental health problems

The evaluation of effectiveness of school-based small group mentoring system : Discovery Scholars Program at UT Austin
Previous studies have found that students’ college experiences differ vastly depending on their socioeconomic status (SES), not only in their academic achievement (Chen & Carroll, 2005; Harackiewicz et al., 2014), but also in the wholesome process of the college experience, including college preparation and socio-cultural practices while at college (Engle & Tinto, 2008; Merritt, 2008). The present study examines the effectiveness of a small-group mentoring program, Discovery Scholars Program, targeted for students identified as at-risk due to SES and lower entrance scores at the University of Texas at Austin. Through exploring the survey data collected as part of the program, the current study explored the following research questions: 1) Did the students engage in and benefit from DSP events and feel supported by the DSP groups? 2) Did the DSP program help students develop academic skills necessary for college life? 3) Did the DSP program help students feel more comfortable and confident as a part of the UT community? The results showed that, while more long-term goals of the program were difficult to measure, the program succeeded in helping students develop social support groups and academic skills that aided in their adjustment process to college.Educational Psycholog
Putting Computerized Instruction to the Test: A Randomized Evaluation of a "Scientifically-based" Reading Program
Although schools across the country are investing heavily in computers in the classroom, there is surprisingly little evidence that they actually improve student achievement. In this paper we present results from a randomized study of a well-defined use of computers in schools: a popular instructional computer program, known as Fast ForWord, which is designed to improve language and reading skills. We assess the impact of the program using four different measures of language and reading ability. Our estimates suggest that while use of the computer program may improve some aspects of students' language skills, it does not appear that these gains translate into a broader measure of language acquisition or into actual reading skills.
The Evolving Role of Information Literacy in Higher Education: A Case Study
The desire of librarians at Nyack College, like other academic librarians, is to play a significant role in the development of effective research and critical thinking skills in the community we serve. But the challenges of having no room for a 1-credit required course in the core curriculum, cultivating faculty and student ownership of a campus-wide information literacy program, the integration of information literacy skills at the discipline, course and assignment levels, and development of appropriate assessment tools for measuring the effectiveness of the information literacy program seemed daunting
