12th GI/ITG CONFERENCE ON MEASURING, MODELLING AND EVALUATION OF COMPUTER AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS Abstract 3rd POLISH-GERMAN TELETRAFFIC SYMPOSIUM SIMULATING ADSL TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE UNDER THE IMPACT OF IMPULSIVE NOISE
This paper reports about ongoing research in performance analysis of ADSL transmission systems under the impact of impulsive noise which turns out to be one of the major impairments in the field deployment of these systems. For this purpose a novel simulation tool has been developed which accurately models coding and modulation functions of ADSL transceivers combined with the capabilities to include impulse data records obtained from phone network measurements into the simulations or to integrate an impulse generator based on the results of these measurements alternatively. Within the paper an overview is provided about the architecture and the major building blocks of the simulator and some initial analysis results are presented
