Segmenting the eating behaviour of university students using the K-means algorithm
Universities that teach arts education do not only teach how to play an instrument or conduct musical ensembles; they are agents of change in eating behaviour for the praxis of teaching and dissemination of healthy education. The objective of the research was to segment the eating behaviour of students of the artistic education-music speciality of the National University of Education "Enrique Guzmán y Valle" by applying the K-means algorithm. To do this, the methodology consisted of understanding the problem, understanding the data collected, preparing the data, modelling and evaluating the model. For modelling, the free software Weka was used through the K-means clustering technique on a data matrix of 148 instances with forty-three nominal variables collected online based on an instrument designed and validated to assess eating behaviour in university students. Two was determined to be the optimal clustering for eating behaviour in university students, using the elbow method, with a distribution of 49% for the first cluster and 51% for the second cluster. The results of the study population showed that the eating behaviour of university students is adequate
How useful are the stages of change for targeting interventions? randomized test of a brief intervention to reduce smoking
Objectives. To see whether the stages of change are useful for targeting a brief intervention to reduce smoking based on implementation intentions. A second objective was to rule out demand characteristics as an alternative explanation for the findings of intervention studies based on the transtheoretical model and implementation intentions. Design. Participants (N = 350) were randomized to a passive control condition (questionnaire only), active control condition (questionnaire-plus-instruction to plan to quit) or experimental condition (questionnaire, plan to quit, form an implementation intention). Their behavior and psychosocial orientation to quit were measured at baseline and 2-month follow-up. Main Outcome Measures. Theory of planned behavior variables, nicotine dependence and quitting. Results. Significantly more people quit smoking in the experimental condition than in the control conditions, and the planning instructions changed intention to quit and perceived control over quitting, but not behavior. Stage of change moderated these effects such that implementation intentions worked best for individuals who were in the preparation stage at baseline. Conclusion. Harnessing both motivational and volitional processes seems to enhance the effectiveness of smoking cessation programs, although further work is required to clarify inconsistencies in the literature using the stages of change.</p
LifeLogging: personal big data
We have recently observed a convergence of technologies to foster the emergence of lifelogging as a mainstream activity. Computer storage has become significantly cheaper, and advancements in sensing technology allows for the efficient sensing of personal activities, locations and the environment. This is best seen in the growing popularity of the quantified self movement, in which life activities are tracked using wearable sensors in the hope of better understanding human performance in a variety of tasks. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of lifelogging, to cover its research history, current technologies, and applications. Thus far, most of the lifelogging research has focused predominantly on visual lifelogging in order to capture life details of life activities, hence we maintain this focus in this review. However, we also reflect on the challenges lifelogging poses to an information retrieval scientist. A review of smart homes in healthcare
The technology of Smart Homes (SH), as an instance of ambient assisted living technologies, is designed to assist the homes’ residents accomplishing their daily-living activities and thus having a better quality of life while preserving their privacy. A SH system is usually equipped with a collection of inter-related software and hardware components to monitor the living space by capturing the behaviour of the resident and understanding his activities. By doing so the system can inform about risky situations and take actions on behalf of the resident to his satisfaction. The present survey will address technologies and analysis methods and bring examples of the state of the art research studies in order to provide background for the research community. In particular, the survey will expose infrastructure technologies such as sensors and communication platforms along with artificial intelligence techniques used for modeling and recognizing activities. A brief overview of approaches used to develop Human–Computer interfaces for SH systems is given. The survey also highlights the challenges and research trends in this area

Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

Why Wine Tourists Visit Cellar Doors: Segmenting Motivation and Destination Image.
This study examines the relationship between the motivation of wine tourists to visit cellar doors and destination image perception. A survey of tourists resulted in 676 useable questionnaires. Using a novel segmentation method, self organizing maps (SOM) and bagged clustering (BC), the study identified five distinct motivation clusters. These clusters were different on only gender and previous visit to the wine region. Three clusters of destination image were identified using the same segmentation method. Significant relationships were found between the motivation and destination image clusters. Implications for destination marketing and managing the tourist experience at the winery cellar door are discussed
