UPAYA PENANGGULANGAN TINDAK PIDANA PROSTITUSI ONLINE OLEH KEPOLISIAN DAERAH JAWA TIMUR (Studi di Kepolisian Daerah Jawa Timur)
Online prostitution is very rife, spreading and mushrooming in people's lives, in this case online prostitution is very easy to do with only the user's cellphone and can order a prostitute. Online prostitution activities are carried out because it is easier and safer to carry out prostitution transactions practically. The role of the community is very important and needed by the police in carrying out their duties and functions to prevent online prostitution crimes in the East Java region. The problems discussed in this study are 1) what are the factors that are constraining the East Java Regional Police in dealing with online prostitution crimes? 2) what are the efforts to deal with the East Java Regional Police against criminal acts of online prostitution? the purpose of this research is to find out and examine legal countermeasures and the obstacles to the practice of online prostitution in the East Java area. The method used in this study is sociological juridical, linking legal writing done sociologically by paying attention to social aspects. The conclusions and suggestions in this research are the East Java regional police, namely through two efforts in the form of preventive and repressive efforts
Organic amendment increases arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal diversity in primary coastal dunes
Plastic pots were inserted beneath seedlings of a shallow-rooted C4 grass species, Ischaemum indicum, with and without a root-impenetrable nylon sachet filled with organic matter (OM) amendment, at seven stations along an interrupted belt transect in which plant community and soil chemistry had been previously surveyed. The transect was perpendicular to mean high-water mark (MH-WM) across a primary coastal dune system in Goa, India, where summer monsoon is the predominant weather feature. The Quadrat survey of plant frequency was made in stations when the above-ground biomass was estimated to be highest. Arbuscular mycorrhiza fungal (AMF) spore density and diversity were determined morphologically in amended and control pots soils, and in OM sachet residues, after host-plant desiccation when monsoon rains had ceased. Twenty-seven AM fungal spore morphotypes were isolated from the pots containing OM amended rhizosphere soils, 19 from controls and 14 from OM residues in the sachets. Gigaspora margarita proved to be the dominant spore in all treatments. Eight morphotypes recovered from amended pots were not recovered from the controls. There was an increasing trend in species diversity in amended pots away from MH-WM. Spore recovery from the three regimes showed variable distribution that indicated differing AMF species strategies
Adherence to the combination of sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine and artesunate in the Maheba refugee settlement, Zambia.
Artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) is one strategy recommended to increase cure rates in malaria and to contain resistance to Plasmodium falciparum. In the Maheba refugee settlement, children aged 5 years or younger with a confirmed diagnosis of uncomplicated falciparum malaria are treated with the combination of sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine (1 day) and artesunate (3 days). To measure treatment adherence, home visits were carried out the day after the last treatment dose. Patients who had any treatment dose left were considered certainly non-adherent. Other patients' classification was based on the answers to the questionnaire: patients whose caretakers stated the child had received the treatment regimen exactly as prescribed were considered probably adherent; all other patients were considered probably non-adherent. Reasons for non-adherence were assessed. We found 21.2% (95% CI [15.0-28.4]) of the patients to be certainly non-adherent, 39.4% (95% CI [31.6-47.6]) probably non-adherent, and 39.4% (95% CI [31.6-47.6]) probably adherent. Insufficient explanation by the dispenser was identified as an important reason for non-adherence. When considering the use of ACT, the issue of patient adherence remains challenging. However, it should not be used as an argument against the introduction of ACT. For these treatment regimens to remain efficacious on a long-term basis, specific and locally adapted strategies need to be implemented to ensure completion of the treatment
Evaluation of the susceptibility of the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, to a selection of novel biorational insecticides using an artificial diet
An improved technique was developed to assay the toxicity of insecticides against aphids using an artificial diet. The susceptibility of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) was determined for a selection of novel biorational insecticides, each representing a novel mode of action. Flonicamid, a novel systemic insecticide with selective activity as feeding blocker against sucking insects, showed high toxicity against first-instar A. pisum nymphs with an LC50 of 20.4 mu g/ml after 24 h, and of 0.24 mu g/ml after 72 h. The toxicity was compared with another feeding blocker, pymetrozine, and the neonicotinoid, imidacloprid. In addition, four insect growth regulators were tested. The chitin synthesis inhibitor flufenoxuron, the juvenile hormone analogue pyriproxyfen, and the azadirachtin compound Neem Azal-T/S showed strong effects and reduced the aphid population by 50% after 3 days of treatment at a concentration of 7-9 mu g/ml. The ecdysone agonist tested, halofenozide, was less potent. In conclusion, the improved aphid feeding apparatus can be useful as a miniature screening device for insecticides against different aphid pests. The present study demonstrated rapid and strong toxicity of flonicamid, and other biorational insecticides towards A. pisum
Seed and seedling responses to inoculation with mycorrhizal fungi and root nodule bacteria: implications for restoration of degraded Mediterranean-type Tuart woodlands
Inoculation with beneficial soil microorganisms has the potential to enhance success of restoration, particularly in harsh Mediterranean-type ecosystems (MTEs). We investigated the effects of microorganisms (mycorrhizal fungi and root nodule bacteria) and planting material (seed and nursery-raised seedlings) on early establishment and growth of two key postdisturbance colonizing species with different life histories, life forms and functional types (Eucalyptus gomphocephala and Acacia saligna) under field conditions. Establishment and growth were monitored at 13months, following the first MTE drought period. For E. gomphocephala, establishment was higher for seedlings (81%) than for seeding (7.5%). Inoculation with ectomycorrhizal fungal spores was not beneficial. For A. saligna, establishment was also higher for seedlings (84%) than for seeding (42.5%). Mycorrhizal fungal inoculum had no effect on establishment or growth. This study has shown that in harsh MTE conditions, the use of seedlings is more effective than seeding in degraded woodlands even when attempting to reintroduce key colonizing species. The microorganism treatments tested did not result in significant improvement in establishment or growth
Fecal contamination of drinking-water in low- and middle-income countries: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Background: access to safe drinking-water is a fundamental requirement for good health and is also a human right. Global access to safe drinking-water is monitored by WHO and UNICEF using as an indicator “use of an improved source,” which does not account for water quality measurements. Our objectives were to determine whether water from “improved” sources is less likely to contain fecal contamination than “unimproved” sources and to assess the extent to which contamination varies by source type and setting.Methods and findings: studies in Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish were identified from online databases, including PubMed and Web of Science, and grey literature. Studies in low- and middle-income countries published between 1990 and August 2013 that assessed drinking-water for the presence of Escherichia coli or thermotolerant coliforms (TTC) were included provided they associated results with a particular source type. In total 319 studies were included, reporting on 96,737 water samples. The odds of contamination within a given study were considerably lower for “improved” sources than “unimproved” sources (odds ratio [OR] = 0.15 [0.10–0.21], I2 = 80.3% [72.9–85.6]). However over a quarter of samples from improved sources contained fecal contamination in 38% of 191 studies. Water sources in low-income countries (OR = 2.37 [1.52–3.71]; p<0.001) and rural areas (OR = 2.37 [1.47–3.81] p<0.001) were more likely to be contaminated. Studies rarely reported stored water quality or sanitary risks and few achieved robust random selection. Safety may be overestimated due to infrequent water sampling and deterioration in quality prior to consumption.Conclusion: access to an “improved source” provides a measure of sanitary protection but does not ensure water is free of fecal contamination nor is it consistent between source types or settings. International estimates therefore greatly overstate use of safe drinking-water and do not fully reflect disparities in access. Intra-household use and acceptability of Ready-to-Use-Supplementary-Foods distributed in Niger between July and December 2010.
Few studies have looked at consumption of Ready-to-Use-Supplementary-Foods (RUSFs) during a nutritional emergency. Here, we describe the use and acceptability of RUSF within households in four districts of the region of Maradi, Niger during large scale preventive distributions with RUSF in 2010 targeted at children 6-35months of age. Our study comprised both quantitative and qualitative components to collect detailed information and to allow in-depth interviews. We performed a cross-sectional survey in 16 villages between two monthly distributions of RUSF (October-November 2010). All households with at least one child who received RUSF were included and a total of 1842 caregivers were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. Focus groups and individual interviews of 128 caregivers were conducted in eight of the selected villages. On average, 24.7% of households reported any sharing of RUSF within the household. Sharing practices outside the household remained rare. Most of the sharing reported occurred among children under 5years of age living in the household. On average, 91% of caregivers in all districts rated the child's appreciation of the products as good or very good. Pengaruh Minuman Instan Dengan Frekuensi Berbeda Terhadap Kadar Kreatinin Darah Mencit (Mus musculus)
Di Indonesia banyak sekali masyarakat yang mengkonsumsi produk minuman sachet, tidak hanya dari kalangan anak-anak tetapi banyak juga remaja bahkan orang tua yang gemar mengkonsumsi minuman sachet, contohnya minuman sachet Marimas. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh
minuman sachet (Marismas) dengan frekuensi berbeda terhadap kadar kreatinin darah mencit (Mus musculus). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang menggunakan sampel 20 ekor mencit jantan, berumur 3-4 bulan dan berat badan 20-30 g. Minuman sachet yang diberikan pada mencit secara oral adalah merk Marimas rasa jeruk dengan frekuensi tunggal 0,5 ml/20 g BB selama 10 hari. Dua puluh ekor mencit yang terbagi menjadi empat kelompok, yaitu P0 sebagai kontrol Placebo; P1 kelompok
yang diberi minuman 1 kali/hari; p2 kelompok yang diberi minuman 2 kali/hari; dan p3 kelompok yang diberi minuman 3 kali/hari. Hasil ujian alisis one way anova menunjukkan bahwa pemberian minuman sachet marimas rasa jeruk belum
mempengaruhi kadar kreatinin darah mencit meski rata-rata hasil akhir mengalami kenaikan pada setiap perlakuan, rata-rata tertinggi yaitu pada P3; 0,81 mg/dl sedangakan terendah yaitu kelompok Placebo; 0,46 mg/dl. Meskipun mengalami kenaikan tetapi hanya sedikit dan tidak melebihi batas kenormalan kadar kreatinin darah mencit. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian minuman sachet marimas tidak mempengaruhi kadar kreatinin darah mencit(Mus musculus)
