Executive Summary: This report provides information about the current state of the art in Semantic Web research in Spain. The contents of this report are mainly based on the information that was gathered during the workshop "Ontologías y Web Semántica 2005", which was held in Santiago de Compostela in November 2005, and the contributions that members from most of the research groups working in Semantic-Webrelated areas in Spain have provided. The field of Semantic Web is quite widespread in Spain, with important groups developing methods, techniques and tools to support different areas: Ontological Engineering, semantic extraction and annotation from heterogeneous sources, semantic search engines, personalisation and Semantic Web Services

New design parameters for biparabolic beach profiles (SW Cadiz, Spain)

165 profiles of seventy-one beaches along the Gulf of Cadiz (SW, Spain) were studied to improve the formulation of the beach profile in tidal seas. Maritime climate, degree of energy exposure and size of the sand grains were taken into account to study the two sections of the biparabolic profile. The objective of the study was the determination of more accurate formulations of the design parameters for the equilibrium profile that involves tidal seas. These formulations were modelled and validated based on existing profiles to quantify the error existing between the real profile and the modelling. This comparative analysis was extended by considering the formulations proposed by other authors. The best results were obtained with the proposal presented herein

Physical characterization of the Guadiana Estuary using a 3D model

Guadiana estuary is an intertidal estuary situated in SW of Iberian Península, the latest 50 Km of which constitutes the natural border between Spain and Portugal. Tidal influence extends to about 80 Km upstream. The Guadiana River presents a high seasonal irregularity with wet winters and dry summers. A 3D hydrodynamic model based on the MOHID System has been developed to study the hydrodynamics of the Guadiana Estuary. Flora y vegetación briofítica del sector noroccidental de la Sierra del Calar del Mundo (SW de Albacete, España)

Se realiza un estudio de la flora y vegetación briofítica de la vertiente septentrional de la Sierra del Calar del Mundo (SW de Albacete). Se aportan datos sobre la vegetación briofítica, estudiándose las comunidades y reconociéndose algunas de las asociaciones ya descritas en la Peninsula Ibérica. El catálogo presentado consta de 160 táxones, incluyendo 131 musgos y 29 hepáticas, con 83 nuevas citas para la provincia de Albacete, de las cuales 43 lo son también para el SE peninsularContribution to the bryophytic flora and vegetation from the North slope of the Sierra del Calar del Mundo (SW of Albacete, Spain).
