Indexación: Scopus. Objective: To describe the current situation of the dental profession in Chile, including training and workforce issues. Material and Methods: Data were collected from different national institutions, which included information regarding number of current registered dentists, university of graduation, geographical distribution, professional position, additional specialty certifications obtained, the number and characteristics of dental surgeons who work in the public and private sectors, the traditional character of the university, the accreditation status of the undergraduate dental programs and the general population number. Results: Currently there are 32 schools of Dentistry in Chile, of which 21 have their quality certified. There are 19,100 Chilean dentists and 1,727 foreign dentists registered. The number of graduates from private universities has increased significantly. Currently, 2,164 dentists work for MINSAL. Less than a third hold a specialty certification. Forty-five percent of the dental specialists obtained their certification from universities. The current professional ratio is 104 dentists per 100,000 habitants. Conclusion: The number of dentists in Chile has increased progressively during the last years, mainly associated with the opening of new dental schools. Only 28% of the Chilean dental schools have certified their quality for the total duration of the undergraduate program. Regarding the workforce, there is a public/private and geographical inequities in dentists’ distribution.http://revista.uepb.edu.br/index.php/pboci/article/view/3875/pd

An efficient protocol to perform genetic traceability of tissue and foods from Geoffroea decorticans

    No full text
The quality of a DNA isolation method depends, among others, on the target tissue and the metabolites therein. Geoffroea decorticans Burkart (chanar) is a species that has nutritional and pharmacological potential. However, an effective method of DNA extraction capable of facilitating population studies and food genetic traceability has not been studied yet. The objective of the present work was to evaluate four methods of DNA extraction from leaves and chanar-based foods. The methods were evaluated based on yield, DNA purity, and molecular markers. The CCI-P (CTAB/Chloroform-Isoamylalcohol/pellet) method showed the highest yield of DNA obtained from leaves. However, the CPCI-SC (CTAB/Phenol-Chloroform-Isoamylalcohol/silica-column) method was the only one that resulted in acceptable DNA quality with both parameters (A260/A280 and A260/A230). The leaf DNA obtained with this method showed a greater amount of fragments with RAPD, and an acceptable amount of fragments with ISSR. On the other hand, the CCI-P method showed a higher yield of DNA from arrope de chanar (syrup). However, the CPCI-SC method was the only one that had relatively better DNA quality, which allowed the amplification of molecular markers. Regarding chanar flour, the CPCI-SC method showed the highest yield, DNA quality and good amplification with molecular markers. Therefore, the CPCI-SC extraction method is efficient for obtaining DNA from different matrices, and can support studies for a possible designation of origin of chanar-based foods

Higher order terms for the quantum evolution of a Wick observable within the Hepp method

The Hepp method is the coherent state approach to the mean field dynamics for bosons or to the semiclassical propagation. A key point is the asymptotic evolution of Wick observables under the evolution given by a time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian. This article provides a complete expansion with respect to the small parameter \epsilon > 0 which makes sense within the infinite-dimensional setting and fits with finite-dimensional formulae

    Fischer decomposition by inframonogenic functions

Let D denote the Dirac operator in the Euclidean space R^m. In this paper, we present a refinement of the biharmonic functions and at the same time an extension of the monogenic functions by considering the equation DfD=0. The solutions of this "sandwich" equation, which we call inframonogenic functions, are used to obtain a new Fischer decomposition for homogeneous polynomials in R^m.Comment: 10 pages, accepted for publication in CUBO, A Mathematical Journa

Talleres clandestinos en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires : la industria de la indumentaria y sus conexiones con el circuito clandestino y la economía global

    Get PDF
Local energy decay for the wave equation with a time-periodic non-trapping metric and moving obstacle

Consider the mixed problem with Dirichelet condition associated to the wave equation \partial_t^2u-\Div_{x}(a(t,x)\nabla_{x}u)=0, where the scalar metric a(t,x)a(t,x) is TT-periodic in tt and uniformly equal to 1 outside a compact set in xx, on a TT-periodic domain. Let U(t,0)\mathcal U(t, 0) be the associated propagator. Assuming that the perturbations are non-trapping, we prove the meromorphic continuation of the cut-off resolvent of the Floquet operator U(T,0)\mathcal U(T, 0) and establish sufficient conditions for local energy decay.Comment: Corrections of some misprint

Determining the driving forces to environmental change processes of La Araucanía, Chile. The "cultural landscape" as a framework

    Get PDF
The notion of cultural landscape was deployed to analyze transformation processes of rural landscapes. As a case study, environmental degradation processes in La Araucania (Chile) region were analyzed. The goals of actions over the territory and their driving forces were determined. These actions were related to economic motives external to local inhabitants and produced deep transformations of the landscape and impacted the way of life of its inhabitants, breaking down the structural coupling between population and landscape, resulting in an environmentally degraded cultural landscape.https://scielo.conicyt.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0719-26812017000300051&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=e

Legal proyects of dangerousness in the Review Of Criminology, Psychiatry and Legal Medicine in Buenos Aires between 1927 and 1934

    Get PDF
The aim of this work is to describe the legal proyects of dangerousness that were presented at the national Congress in 1924, 1926 and 1928 and published in the Review of Criminology, Psychiatry and Legal Medicine between 1927 and 1934, while it was directed by Osvaldo Loudet. By dangerousness we understand those behaviors that appeared potentially harmful to society without being strictly crimes. For these purpose we will present the Review of Criminology, who wrote, which were the sections and the types of discourses that appeared. Afterwards, we will study the three legal proyects of dangerousness.Fil: Dovio, Mariana. Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales; Argentina.
