Routing with Virtual Region Coordinates in Wireless Sensor Networks

    No full text
Abstract—In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), constructing a coordinate system is a challenging issue for geographic routing. The use of specialized hardware and/or infrastructure supporting for localization is costly, and it is infeasible in many deployment scenarios. To address this issue, we define a virtual region coordinate system without location information in WSNs, which is highly scalable and efficient with a simple system set-up procedure. A highly efficient coordinate-based routing scheme is also proposed. Extensive simulation shows that our scheme is suitable for the condition that sensor nodes don’t know their location information.
