Characterisation of pectins extracted from different parts of Malaysian durian rinds
Durian rinds are a potential source of pectin. The rinds
consist of the outer layer of the fruit which is semiwoody
and thorny and the inner layer, which is creamy
white. Pectin may be present in varying amounts in
different parts of the rind. Previous studies only
investigated pectin content from the inner part of the
rinds. Therefore, it is essential to provide scientific
data on the pectin yield from whole durian rinds
(including the thorns). Particularly, this information
can be useful when preparing durian rinds for pectin
extraction
A study on awareness of household waste separation in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, Johor: rural areas
Malaysia is embarking on green initiatives which have been expressly stipulated in the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020). In order to transform ideas into reality, the government has identified six strategic thrusts and six game changers that will help Malaysia to stay ahead of global challenges and opportunities in the next five years. In one of the strategic thrusts, the government has planned a greener trajectory for sustainability and resilience [1]. As a result, governmental agencies such as the Department of Environment (DOE) has been given the mandate to conserve and protect the environment and its natural resources for present and future generations. Among the ways applied by the government for solving environmental problems, especially waste generation, include waste minimization, compost and incineration. The Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (SWPCM Act 2007) came into force on 1 September 2011. It was administered by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. The main objective of the act is to regulate the management of controlled solid waste and to ensure high-quality services in solid waste management [2]. Apart from the government, the community should also play its role in minimizing waste generation at household level
Pengaruh Perceived Organizational Support (POS) dan Role Stress terhadap Job Outcome pada Akuntan Manajemen di Perusahaan-Perusahaan di Kota Surabaya
Performance measurement information, job rotation, role stress, and performance : an investigation οf local government
We investigate performance measurement information (PMI) and role stress in local government using a Multivariate Analysis of Variance.
We find that role ambiguity for public service managers who receive both non-financial and financial PMI is lower than for those who receive either non-financial information only, or financial information only. Performance is significantly higher when role ambiguity is low.
Our results indicate that role ambiguity fully mediates the effects of PMI on performance, but there is no evidence that role conflict mediates those effects. Role ambiguity and role conflict do not mediate the association between job rotation and performance.peer-reviewe
Empowerment in the Public Sector: Testing the Influence of Goal Orientation
Empowerment has emerged as an important new issue in the public sector organization setting in the wake of mainstream new public management (NPM). Nevertheless, few studies in this frame have combined structural (managerial) and psychological (individual) approaches in an integrative study of empowerment. There is also a need to examine the moderating variables involved in this relationship, as well as to extend research on work motivation in public management. This study explores the effect of structural empowerment on psychological empowerment, and it also draws on goal orientation (GO) theory to examine the moderating role of employees’ GO in this link. The model is tested on a sample of 521 Spanish local authority employees. The results do not confirm the direct link between structural and psychological empowerment, but show that learning GO has considerable moderating power in this relationship, and its interaction with structural empowerment affects employees’ psychological empowerment levels
Research in multi-cultural relationship building
This study aims to explore the ‘missing gap' between the values of an Accounting firm and the preference shown by Maaori on how they would like to be approached when wanting to build a trusted relationship within a business sense. This study makes use of qualitative approaches in which data is collected primarily through interviews and analysed to produce results and recommendations. The study found that Maaori would like to be approached in a way that makes sense to them and also identifies with their cultural proceedings. It also provides insight into how important trust is when establishing a relationship with Maaori. The study recommends that further studies conducted should interview a wider variety of focus groups to add different elements to this research and that FIRM A's small business department's offerings do not align with what Maaori want so need to be rethought to adapt to Maaor expectations
Research and Applications of the Processes of Performance Appraisal: A Bibliography of Recent Literature, 1981-1989
[Excerpt] There have been several recent reviews of different subtopics within the general performance appraisal literature. The reader of these reviews will find, however, that the accompanying citations may be of limited utility for one or more reasons. For example, the reference sections of these reviews are usually composed of citations which support a specific theory or practical approach to the evaluation of human performance. Consequently, the citation lists for these reviews are, as they must be, highly selective and do not include works that may have only a peripheral relationship to a given reviewer\u27s target concerns. Another problem is that the citations are out of date. That is, review articles frequently contain many citations that are fifteen or more years old. The generation of new studies and knowledge in this field occurs very rapidly. This creates a need for additional reference information solely devoted to identifying the wealth of new research, ideas, and writing that is changing the field
