Resource allocation for energy efficient large-scale distributed systems

Until recently energy issues have been mostly dealt with by advancements in hardware technologies, such as low-power CPUs, solid state drives, and energy-efficient computer monitors. Energy-aware resource management has emerged as a promising approach for sustainable/green computing. We propose a holistic energy-aware resource management framework for distributed systems. This framework will seamlessly integrate a set of both site-level and system-level/service-level energy-aware scheduling schemes. One of our previous works as an example implementation of the framework is presented in this paper.
