Fuzzy approach to multimedia faulty module replacement
For non-real time multimedia systems, we present a fuzzy approach to replacing the faulty module. After analyzing the nature of the random and pseudo-random test sequences applied to a module under test, we obtain the aliasing fault coverage between the random and pseudo-random sequences. The activity probability features of intermittent faults in the module under test are discussed based on the Markov chain model. Should State-Owned Firms Change CEOs Before Privatization? The Case of the Telecommunications Industry
Should state-owned enterprises change chief executive officer before privatizing? We test competing views on this question by complementing a recently released database with newly collected data. We are able to cover 77 telecommunications privatizations, which account for nearly 80 percent of the sector in terms of value. We find that CEO replacement will improve performance in the telecommunications industry before privatization as measured by penetration, operating efficiency, and profitability. CEO change before privatization does appear to have real consequences in firm performance before privatization. Moreover, findings are consistent with previous research that links CEO replacement and an increase in privatization prices
Software-Based Self-Test of Set-Associative Cache Memories
Embedded microprocessor cache memories suffer from limited observability and controllability creating problems during in-system tests. This paper presents a procedure to transform traditional march tests into software-based self-test programs for set-associative cache memories with LRU replacement. Among all the different cache blocks in a microprocessor, testing instruction caches represents a major challenge due to limitations in two areas: 1) test patterns which must be composed of valid instruction opcodes and 2) test result observability: the results can only be observed through the results of executed instructions. For these reasons, the proposed methodology will concentrate on the implementation of test programs for instruction caches. The main contribution of this work lies in the possibility of applying state-of-the-art memory test algorithms to embedded cache memories without introducing any hardware or performance overheads and guaranteeing the detection of typical faults arising in nanometer CMOS technologie
