Computer Automated Reconciliation of Activity Models for Group Supported Organizational Modeling

Research at the University of Arizona and elsewhere have suggested that Electronic Meeting Systems augmented to support construction of Activity models can effectively support groups during development of semantic models. Group-enabled tools developed at the University of Arizona allow large groups of individuals from various functional units of an organization to actively participate in model development and to build models two to three times faster than traditional modeling approaches. Rapid model development shortens project times and makes it more likely that key personnel can participate during model development and analysis. To date, the tool set has been successfully used a number of groups for the collaborative development and analysis of business models using the IDEF0 Activity modeling methodology. This paper describes two software methods used to insure model correctness and shorten the model reconciliation proces

An approach for change impact analysis in web systems - a industrial case study

There is a growing body of research on change impact analysis (CIA) approaches that specifically addresses changes and their impacts on architecture design. However, there is little research focus on approaches that particularly support the identification of impacts on architecture design resulting from business process changes i.e. early identification of change impacts in Web systems. To address this problem, we have proposed a systematic, structured and rigorous approach called as process model of CIA (PMCIA). PMCIA consists of a set of defined steps/activities, inputs, outputs, and employs architecture design information. In this paper we have presented the results of PMCIA validation in industrial setting through a detailed case study. The case study was carried out across two releases of a selected Web system project in an organization. The case study results indicate that the proposed approach, indeed, supports for early identification of change impacts in Web systems and provides Web developers the necessary components for systematically performing CIA. © 2013 SERSC

WereportonastudyofsevenprocessimprovementgroupsintwoNewZealandorganizations. Allgroups followed the same group methodology and were facilitated by the researcher. The research approach used was action research. All groups interacted with the support of an e-mail conferencing tool. Six of the groups used e-mail conferencing as the main medium of interaction, and their members interacted through the e-mail conferencing system during 67 to 89 percent of the time. One of the groups conducted most of the discussion through a face-to-face meeting, using e-mail conferencing during only 18 percent of the time. Five of the groups were successful in generating and either fully or partially implementing process redesign proposals. Two of the groups failed to generate any process redesign proposal. Research data was collected through participant observation, unstructured and structured interviews, and in the form of e-mail discussion transcripts. This research data indicates that, while not having negative perceived effects on group effectiveness, asynchronous groupware support was perceived as increasing process adoption, hierarchy suppression, departmental heterogeneity, and contribution length, and decreasing discussion duration, cost, and interaction in process improvement groups

Information technology is developing rapidly today, the components of supply chain management in the restructuring of business processes with the help of information Technologies provides shortening cycle times, system scalability, reduce operational costs, improve product quality, and increase customer satisfaction for the companies. In this study, supply chain management software can be considered online training systems, business process reengineering has been discussed on applicability of technologies for the semantic network. The scope of supply chain management and business process reengineering have been investigated and the evolution of Internet technologies were carried out as literature survey. Literature on the models of online education has been investigated in detail, then the standards of teaching adopted by the committees established by the owner of the management systems architecture (LTSA 2001) were examined. In the study of teaching methods and management systems as an example of the application section of the TC Sakarya University SAUPORT software, 3 different restructuring proposals and their feasibility were analyzed and developed .In the final part of the study, after evaluating the results of the proposed business processes, business processes in different manufacturing and service sectors with online education systems have been evaluated
