Pattern Research Project: An Investigation of The Pattern And Printing Process - Mughal Art
2017 Pattern Research Project
Ria John - Mughal Art
The Pattern Research Project involves research and analysis of contemporary patterns found in the textiles and wallcoverings of the built interior environment. Patterns use motif, repetition, color, geometry, craft, technology, and space to communicate place, time, and concept. Through this research and analysis, built environments - their designers, occupants, construction, and context - can be better understood.
Ria John, VCU Interior Design BFA 2020, selected the Mughal Art for the 2017 Pattern Research Project. The text below is excerpted from the student’s work:
“The pattern is a combination of lattice and flowers. The motifs woven on this pattern are floral motifs inspired by Islamic Art. Most of the patterns woven are flowers, leaves and animals. This form of pattern evolved when the Mughals invaded India. With the invasion, there was an emergence of Islamic art and architecture influence in India which is the reason for these motifs. These patterns were woven on mainly sarees which was intended to be used by women, but these patterns were also used on carpets, curtains, wall hangings, cushion covers, sarees in the present times but in the past, during the rule of Mughal Emperor Akbar, these patterns were used in shields, turban, architecture, garments, furniture etc. This pattern has been woven on the silk cloth. Mughal inspired patterns have evolved over time from the past, although they still use the traditional Mughal inspired designs but now they also use Hindu gods in the patterns.”https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/prp/1007/thumbnail.jp
THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH TO YOUNG LEARNERS AT “PERMATA IMAN” KINDERGARTEN MALANG
Present trends show that the teaching of English is not only conducted in elementary schools but even in kindergarten. The society wants their children to learn English earlier and also the schools want to prepare their students before they face English instructional materials in elementary schools. Since not all kindergartens include English as instructional materials, new research focusing on the teaching of English in kindergarten is needed.\ud
This study is focused on the teaching of English to young learners at “Permata Iman” kindergarten Malang. This school was chosen because English is one instructional material. The study tries to answer the statement of problems about: (1) the teaching techniques chosen, (2) the instructional materials used, and (3) the instructional media used.\ud
The design of this study is descriptive qualitative. The instruments used to collect the data are observation, interview and documents. The data collection itself took two weeks, which consisted of three steps: (1) observing the teaching process in the classroom, (2) interviewing the teacher, and (3) taking fieldnotes. Meanwhile, the data analysis procedures are: (1) coding categories, (2) sorting the data that differ, (3) displaying the data, (4) discussing the findings, and (5) making a conclusion.\ud
The findings of this study shown that there are several points included in the teaching of English at “Permata Iman” kindergarten Malang. First, the teaching techniques used are\ud
listenrepeat,\ud
listenread,\ud
questionanswer,\ud
and listendo\ud
in games and songs. Question\ud
answer in the form of oral classical small quizzes was the most used teaching techniques.\ud
Second, the instructional materials are in form of vocabulary items related to the theme written in “SKM” (Satuan Kegiatan Mingguan) /Weekly Lesson Plan. And also the\ud
instructional material in this kindergarten used Fun English Magazine. It is quite good for the instructional materials that are in line with the objective of the teaching of English in kindergarten that is to introduce certain English vocabulary items. Third, the teacher\ud
rarely used any instructional media. The audio visual room and other supporting media which hang on the wall in front of the class were also not used effectively
The english teaching and learning activities at SD Al-Irsyad Surakarta
This final project report is intended to describe the English teaching and
learning activities at SD Al-Irsyad Surakarta, and to find out the raised problems with
the solutions in the English teaching and learning activities at SD Al-Irsyad
Surakarta. It is written based on the job training that has been done from February
until April 2006 at SD Al-Irsyad Surakarta. SD Al-Irsyad Surakarta has given the
English lesson from first class until sixth class. The English teaching and learning
activities at SD Al-Irsyad Surakarta is held every Monday and Wednesday.
The methods used in collecting the data in this final project were observation,
participation, and interview. The English teaching and learning activities at SD Al-
Irsyad Surakarta consist of greeting, explaining materials, exercising, ending the
lesson. It is held in the class and LRC room, the activities at the LRC room are
watching video and games.
The raised problems at the English teaching and learning activities at SD Al-
Irsyad Surakarta are uncooperative student, unenthusiastic student, limited facilities,
and uncompleted English syllabus. Solution of problems are applying the game
method, making the interested of the English teaching and learning activity
On the splitting of nucleon effective masses at high isospin density: reaction observables
We review the present status of the nucleon effective mass splitting
in asymmetric matter, with controversial predictions within both
non-relativistic relativistic approaches to the effective in medium
interactions. Based on microscopic transport simulations we suggest some rather
sensitive observables in collisions of asymmetric (unstable) ions at
intermediate () energies: i) Energy systematics of Lane Potentials; ii)
Isospin content of fast emitted nucleons; iii) Differential Collective Flows.
Similar measurements for light isobars (like ) could be also
important.Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures; NSCL/RIA Workshop on "Reaction Mechanisms for

Development of immunoassays for human urokinase
Radioimmune assays (RIA) and enzyme linked immune assays for measurement of pro-urokinase and the two active forms of the enzyme were developed. Polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, with desired specificities against preselected synthetic regions of urokinase (UK), were obtained by immunization with the respective synthetic peptides and used to develop RIA for zymogen and the two activated forms of UK
Genetic diversity of two Portuguese populations of the pullet carpet shell Venerupis senegalensis, based on RAPD markers: contribution to a sustainable restocking program
The pullet carpet shell Venerupis senegalensis
(=V. pullastra) is a commercially important species in
Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy. In Portugal, this species
was once abundant in the Ria Formosa (southern Portugal
A Transport Model for Nuclear Reactions Induced by Radioactive Beams
Major ingredients of an isospin and momentum dependent transport model for
nuclear reactions induced by radioactive beams are outlined. Within the IBUU04
version of this model we study several experimental probes of the equation of
state of neutron-rich matter, especially the density dependence of the nuclear
symmetry energy. Comparing with the recent experimental data from NSCL/MSU on
isospin diffusion, we found a nuclear symmetry energy of at subnormal densities. Predictions on
several observables sensitive to the density dependence of the symmetry energy
at supranormal densities accessible at GSI and the planned Rare Isotope
Accelerator (RIA) are also made.Comment: 10 pages. Talk given at the 2nd Argonne/MSU/JINA/INT RIA Workshop at
