The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2004 Springer VerlagIn an m-commerce setting, the underlying communication system will have to provide a Quality of Service (QoS) in the presence of two competing factors—network bandwidth and, as the pressure to add value to the business-to-consumer (B2C) shopping experience by integrating multimedia applications grows, increasing data sizes. In this paper, developments in the area of QoS-dependent multimedia perceptual quality are reviewed and are integrated with recent work focusing on QoS for e-commerce. Based on previously identified user perceptual tolerance to varying multimedia QoS, we show that enhancing the m-commerce B2C user experience with multimedia, far from being an idealised scenario, is in fact feasible if perceptual considerations are employed

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to determine the effect of People's Business Credit (KUR) and E-Commerce on Increasing MSME Income in Ponorogo District. People's business credit (KUR) and e-commerce are one of the steps that can be taken by MSMEs to develop their business, therefore the use of KUR and e-commerce is good and has the potential to increase the income of MSME actors. The object of this research is the owner of MSMEs in Ponorogo District whose businesses have been registered with the One Stop Service and Investment Service. Respondents in this study amounted to 86 owners of SMEs in Ponorogo District. The sampling technique used is cluster sampling. The data used are primary data using questionnaires distributed directly to respondents and supported by interviews. The data analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 22 data processing applications, in addition to multiple linear regression analysis, this study tests the data by using descriptive statistical tests, data quality tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing. Based on the test results on the first hypothesis, it shows that people's business credit (KUR) has a positive and significant effect on increasing income. This means that the higher the understanding and use of people's business credit, the higher the income of MSMEs. The results of testing the second hypothesis show that e-commerce has a positive and significant effect on increasing revenue. This means that the higher the understanding and use of e-commerce , the more successful business owners will be in developing their business and increasing the income of business actors. Simultaneous test results show that people's business credit is able to affect the income of MSMEs in Ponorogo District. The results of the determination test show that the value of R square is 0.388, with the intention that people's business credit and e-commerce can have an effect with an increase in income of 38.8% and the remaining 61.2% is influenced by other variables outside of this research that has been done. Objective: The business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce or online shopping market is growing rapidly and has become one of the most exciting developments in e-commerce. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of perceived ease of use, service quality, customer trust on the mediating role of customer satisfaction on perceived ease of use of online hotel room booking applications on repurchase intention. Design/Methods/Approach: The research sample size is 183 respondents who used the RedDoorz application at Indonesian hotel locations. Data are collected by distributing online questionnaires using a Likert scale point 1 to 5. The data analysis technique is carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. Findings: The results of this study indicate that customer satisfaction as a mediator has a positive but not significant effect on service quality. The results of this study also show that partial customer satisfaction has a significant influence on the repurchase intention. Originality: This study shows that the use of theory of reasoned action to explain the customer satisfaction variable as a mediation can be done by predicting the repurchase intention of consumers in online hotel room booking applications. Practical/Policy implication: The managerial implications of this research can be considered for business stakeholders to ensure service quality, user convenience, and customer trust so that customers feel satisfied and can order again

Uncovering the identity of Electronic Markets research through text mining techniques

As an established academic journal in the e-commerce and digital platforms fields, Electronic Markets (EM) features a diverse range of topics and occupies a significant role in the information systems field. The study investigates EM’s topic diversity over the time period 2009–2020 using a text mining analysis and a bibliometric analysis and identifies 28 cluster groups. The analysis reveals that the top three topics are 1) service quality, 2) blockchain and other shared trust building solutions, their impact and credibility, as well as 3) consumer buying behavior and interactions. EM's core identity lies in a balanced set of core themes that bring technological, business or human/ social perspectives to the research of networked business and digital economy. This includes research on digital and smart services, applications, consumer behavior and business models, as well as technology and e-commerce data. Ethical and sustainability related topics are however still less present in EM. </p

Consumer behavior changes from offline to online, raise several problems that need to be faced by business actors in Kerinjing Village. These problems including complaints that occur in online sales which cause customer dissatisfaction, and the lack of knowledge of business actors in Kerinjing Village, specially in digital technology because of the level of education. Based on the survey, it is known that the most complaints that occur in online sales related to the delivery of goods. The purpose of this training is that online business actors can improve the service quality by providing knowledge about the delivery system, how to choose the right delivery service and knowing how to pack goods appropriately so that they are not damaged during shipping. The training stages start from explaining the importance of managing the delivery system, how to choose the right shipping service, managing the delivery system in e-commerce applications and practicing proper packing techniques and according to product characteristic

A framework for joint resource allocation of MapReduce and web service applications in a shared cloud cluster

    Get PDF
The ongoing uptake of cloud-based solutions by different business domains and the rise of cross-border e-commerce in the EU require for additional public and private cloud solutions. Private clouds are an alternative for e-commerce sites to host not only Web Service (WS) applications but also Business Intelligence ones that consist of batch and/or interactive queries and resort to the MapReduce (MR) programming model. In this study, we take the perspective of an e-commerce site hosting its WS and MR applications on a fixed-size private cloud cluster. We assume Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees must be provided to end-users, represented by upper-bounds on the average response times of WS requests and on the MR jobs execution times, as MR applications can be interactive nowadays. We consider multiple MR and WS user classes with heterogeneous workload intensities and QoS requirements. Being the cluster capacity fixed, some requests may be rejected at heavy load, for which penalty costs are incurred. We propose a framework to jointly optimize resource allocation for WS and MR applications hosted in a private cloud with the aim to increase cluster utilization and reduce its operational and penalty costs. The optimization problem is formulated as a non linear mathematical programming model. Applying the KKT conditions, we derive an equivalent problem that can be solved efficiently by a greedy procedure. The proposed framework increases cluster utilization by up to 18% while cost savings go up to 50% compared to a priori partitioning the cluster resources between the two workload types
