QuEF - An Environment for Quality Evaluation on Model-driven Web Engineering Approaches
Due to the high number and wide variety of methodologies which currently exist in the field of Model-
Driven Web Engineering (MDWE) methodologies, it has become necessary to evaluate the quality of the
existing methodologies to provide helpful information for the developers. Since proposals are constantly
appearing, the need may arise not only to evaluate quality but also to find out how it can be improved. This
article presents work being carried out in this field and describes tasks to define QuEF (Quality Evaluation
Framework), which is an environment to evaluate, under objective measures, the quality of Model-Driven
Web Engineering methodologies.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-30391-
A quality management based on the Quality Model life cycle
Managing quality is a hard and expensive task that involves the execution and control of processes and techniques.
For a good quality management, it is important to know the current state and the objective to be
achieved. It is essential to take into account with a Quality Model that specifies the purposes of managing
quality. QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is a framework to manage quality in MDWE (Model-driven
Web Engineering). This paper suggests managing quality but pointing out the Quality Model life cycle. The
purpose is to converge toward a quality continuous improvement by means of reducing effort and time.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2010-20057-C03-02Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN 2010-12312-EJunta de Andalucía TIC-578
A Framework to Evaluate Software Developer’s Productivity The VALORTIA Project
Currently, there is a lack in companies developing software in relation to assessing their staff’s productivity
before executing software projects, with the aim of improving effectiveness and efficiency. QuEF (Quality
Evaluation Framework) is a framework that allows defining quality management tasks based on a model.
The main purpose of this framework is twofold: improve an entity’s continuous quality, and given a context,
decide between a set of entity’s instances on the most appropriate one. Thus, the aim of this paper is to
make this framework available to evaluate productivity of professionals along software development and
select the most appropriate experts to implement the suggested project. For this goal, Valortia platform,
capable of carrying out this task by following the QuEF framework guidelines, is designed. Valortia is a
platform to certify users' knowledge on a specific area and centralize all certification management in its
model by means of providing protocols and methods for a suitable management, improving efficiency and
effectiveness, reducing cost and ensuring continuous quality.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2013-46928-C3-3-
Studying Maintainability on Model-Driven Web Methodologies
QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is an environment to evaluate,
through objective measures, the quality of Model-DrivenWeb Engineering (MDWE)
methodologies. In this paper, this environment is presented and is used for the evaluation
of the Maintainability in terms of various characteristics on MDWE. Given
the high number of methodologies available and proposed over recent years, it has
become necessary to define objective evaluation tools to enable organizations to improve
their methodological environment and to help designers of web methodologies
design new effective and efficient tools, processes and techniques and find out how
it can be improved and how the quality improvement process could be optimized in
order to reduce costs. This evaluation is applied to the NDT (Navigational Development
Techniques) methodology, an approach that covers the complete life cycle and
it is mainly oriented to the enterprise environment.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007–67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2010–20057-C03–0
Quality evaluation for Model-Driven Web Engineering methodologies
Context: There are lots of approaches or methodologies in the Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE)
context to develop Web Applications without reaching a consensus on the use of standards and scarcity
of both, practical experience and tool support.
Objective: Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE) methodologies are constantly evolving. Moreover,
Quality is a very important factor to identify within a methodology as it defines processes, techniques
and artifacts to develop Web Applications. For this reason, when analyzing a methodology, it is not only
necessary to evaluate quality, but also to find out how to improve it. The main goal of this paper is to
develop a set of Quality Characteristics and Sub-Characteristics for MDWE approaches based on ISO/
IEC standards.
Method: From the software products context, some widely standards proposed, such as ISO/IEC 9126 or
ISO/IEC 25000, suggest a Quality Model for software products, although up to now, there are no standard
methods to assess quality on MDWE methodologies. Such methodologies can be organized into Properties,
thus, a methodology has artifacts, processes and techniques. Then, each item is evaluated through a
set of appropriate Quality Characteristics, depending on its nature. This paper proposes to evaluate a
methodology as a product itself.
Results: This paper recommends a set of Quality Characteristics and Sub-Characteristics based on these
standards in order to evaluate MDWE methodologies quality. Additionally, it defines an agile way to
relate these Quality Sub-Characteristics to Properties with the sole purpose of not only analyzing, but also
assessing and improving MDWE methodologies.
Conclusions: The application of these Quality Characteristics and Sub-Characteristics could promote efficiency
in methodologies since this kind of assessment enhances both the understanding of strengths and
weaknesses of approaches.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2010-20057-C03-0
QuEF: An environment for the assesment of MDWE methodologies
This paper presents QuEF (Quality Evaluation
Framework), an environment for the assesment of Model-Driven
Web Engineering (MDWE) methodologies. This approach is
oriented to evaluate, through objectives measures, the quality of
MDWE methodologies in a specific environment. Given the high
number of methodologies available and proposed in the last
years, it has become necessary to define objective evaluation tools
to enable development teams to improve their methodological
environment and help designers of web methodologies design
new effective and efficient tools, processes and techniques. Since
methodologies are constantly evolving, the need may arise not
only to evaluate the quality but also to find out how it can be
improved and how the quality improvement process could be
optimize in order to reduce costs. Besides, an example of
application to the NDT (Navigational Development Techniques)
methodology is presented and the Functionality of the NDT
methodology is evaluated in terms of MDE and Maturity
characteristics.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-30391-

A Method Based on AHP to Define the Quality Model of QuEF
QuEF is a framework to analyze and evaluate the quality of ap proaches based on Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE). In this frame work, the evaluation of an approach is calculated in terms of a set of informa tion needs and a set of quality characteristics. The information needs are
requirements demanded by users of approaches. On the other hand, the quality
characteristics are specific aspects that the approaches provide to their users. In
these lines, there is a gap in the importance of each quality characteristic in the
QuEF and the degree of coverage of each information need regarding the quali ty characteristics. In this contribution, we propose a method to define the Quali ty Model within QuEF. This method is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process
in order to establish the importance of the quality characteristics and the degree
of coverage of each requirement of the information needs regarding the set of
quality characteristics. Furthermore, a software application that develops the
proposed method is presented.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2009-08286Junta de Andalucía P08-TIC-3548Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIN2010-20057-C03-02Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2010-12312-EJunta de Andalucía TIC-578
A Quality Model in a Quality Evaluation Framework for MDWE methodologies
Nowadays, diverse development methodologies exist in the field of Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE), each of which covers different levels of abstraction on Model-Driven Architecture (MDA): CIM, PIM, PSM and Code. Given the high number of methodologies available, it is necessary to evaluate the quality of existing methodologies and provide helpful information to the developers. Furthermore, proposals are constantly appearing and the need may arise not only to evaluate the quality but also to find out how it can be improved. In this context, QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) can be employed to assess the quality of MDWE methodologies. This article presents the work being carried out and describes tasks to define a Quality Model component for QuEF. This component would be responsible for providing the basis for specifying quality requirements with the purpose of evaluating quality.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-30391-
