Four-phase differential phase shift resolver
Two systems have been developed to resolve phase uncertainty without transmitting reference signals. In both methods signal is impressed on carrier as differential, rather than absolute, phase shift. At the receiver four-phase demodulation and logic process unambiguously resolves differential phase shift of input carrier
The Coulomb phase shift revisited
We investigate the Coulomb phase shift, and derive and analyze new and more
precise analytical formulae. We consider next to leading order terms to the
Stirling approximation, and show that they are important at small values of the
angular momentum and other regimes. We employ the uniform approximation.
The use of our expressions in low energy scattering of charged particles is
discussed and some comparisons are made with other approximation methods.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 1 tabl
Synchronous Phase Shift at LHC
The electron cloud in vacuum pipes of accelerators of positively charged
particle beams causes a beam energy loss which could be estimated from the
synchronous phase. Measurements done with beams of 75 ns, 50 ns, and 25 ns
bunch spacing in the LHC for some fills in 2010 and 2011 show that the average
energy loss depends on the total beam intensity in the ring. Later measurements
during the scrubbing run with 50 ns beams show the reduction of the electron
cloud due to scrubbing. Finally, measurements of the individual bunch phase
give us information about the electron cloud build-up inside the batch and from
batch to batch.Comment: Presented at ECLOUD'12: Joint INFN-CERN-EuCARD-AccNet Workshop on

Performance of Equal Phase-Shift Search for One Iteration
Grover presented the phase-shift search by replacing the selective inversions
by selective phase shifts of . In this paper, we investigate the
phase-shift search with general equal phase shifts. We show that for small
uncertainties, the failure probability of the Phase- search is smaller
than the general phase-shift search and for large uncertainties, the success
probability of the large phase-shift search is larger than the Phase-
search. Therefore, the large phase-shift search is suitable for large-size of
databases.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
High SNR BER Comparison of Coherent and Differentially Coherent Modulation Schemes in Lognormal Fading Channels
Using an auxiliary random variable technique, we prove that binary
differential phase-shift keying and binary phase-shift keying have the same
asymptotic bit-error rate performance in lognormal fading channels. We also
show that differential quaternary phase-shift keying is exactly 2.32 dB worse
than quaternary phase-shift keying over the lognormal fading channels in high
signal-to-noise ratio regimes.Comment: Manuscript accepted for publication in IEEE Communications Letters (4

Tilted phase space measurements
We show that the phase shift of {\pi}/2 is crucial for the phase space
translation covariance of the measured high-amplitude limit observable in
eight-port homodyne detection. However, for an arbitrary phase shift {\theta}
we construct explicitly a different nonequivalent projective representation of
R such that the observable is covariant with respect to this
representation. As a result we are able to determine the measured observable
for an arbitrary parameter field and phase shift. Geometrically the change in
the phase shift corresponds to the tilting of one axis in the phase space of
the system.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Low distortion automatic phase control circuit
A voltage controlled phase shifter is rendered substantially harmonic distortion free over a large dynamic input range by employing two oppositely poled, equally biased varactor diodes as the voltage controlled elements which adjust the phase shift. Control voltages which affect the bias of both diodes equally are used to adjust the phase shift without increasing distortion. A feedback stabilized phase shifter is rendered substantially frequency independent by employing a phase detector to control the phase shift of the voltage controlled phase shifter
Differential phase shift keyed signal resolver
A differential phase shift keyed signal resolver resolves the differential phase shift in the incoming signal to determine the data content thereof overcoming phase uncertainty without requiring a transmitted reference signal
Low phase-shift amplifier
Single-stage MOSFET amplifier is described which is identical to standard neutralized amplifier except that neutralization provided by broadband transformer is applied to AGC gate instead of signal gate. Neutralization of drain-to-control gate capacity minimizes the phase change induced by variation in AGC
