Persona is a communicative artefact for usability that currently functions under the umbrella of User-Centred Design (UCD). Since we argue usability methods differ across cultures, this project presents a cross-cultural research probe on persona generated by indigenous Otjiherero speakers in Namibia. The objective is to find out how participants in this milieu take on, understand and portray persona artefacts, what goals of User Experience (UX) emerge from the inquiry, and whether the artefacts created simulate or differ from those in literature. Tentative methods scaffold from benefits attained by persona in the attempt to advance persona technical communication in cross-cultural design. This experience report presents initial findings on narrative content, rhetorical preferences, and the physical layout of persona artefacts as so-far constructed by Otjiherero speakers in rural Namibia. The report draws to a close reflecting on present challenges and advances, and indicating upcoming pathways

The study describes the overlap of arrangements of administrative sanctions in the Law No. 12 of 2011 with the construction of administrative sanctions in the Local Regulation of Bali Province No. 2 of 2012. The arrangements of administrative sanctions according to Law No. 12 of 2011 are stipulated in appendix II number 64 which stipulates that the substance in the form of administrative sanctions or civil sanctions for the violation of these norms are formulated into one part (chapter) with the norms that impose administrative sanctions or civil sanctions, and in appendix II number 65 which regulates if there is more than one norm that provides administrative or civil sanctions, administrative sanctions or civil sanctions are formulated in the last chapter of the section. Thus, it does not formulate the provision of sanctions that also contains criminal sanctions, civil penalties and administrative sanctions in one chapter. The arrangements of administrative sanctions in the Local Regulation of Bali Province No. 2 of 2012 are stipulated in Chapter XIV of Article 33 paragraph (1), (2), and (3), thus it is contrary to the provisions of Appendix II of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2011 numbers 64 and 65

    Personalizing Dialogue Agents via Meta-Learning

Existing personalized dialogue models use human designed persona descriptions to improve dialogue consistency. Collecting such descriptions from existing dialogues is expensive and requires hand-crafted feature designs. In this paper, we propose to extend Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML)(Finn et al., 2017) to personalized dialogue learning without using any persona descriptions. Our model learns to quickly adapt to new personas by leveraging only a few dialogue samples collected from the same user, which is fundamentally different from conditioning the response on the persona descriptions. Empirical results on Persona-chat dataset (Zhang et al., 2018) indicate that our solution outperforms non-meta-learning baselines using automatic evaluation metrics, and in terms of human-evaluated fluency and consistency.Comment: Accepted in ACL 2019. Grand Masters in the Cinquecento : their persona & death

The manuscript records of the Order of Malta understandably turn out to be rather stingy with information about the health and psychological profile of individuals. Unless illness, (e.g. insanity), hampered the proper discharge of their official functions, health remained a matter of eminently private domain. Similarly, the printed histories, foremost among all Giacomo Bosio's truly monumental and detailed chronicle of the Order from its foundation in Palestine to the year 1571, have very little about the medical problems and the passing away of dignitaries, including Grand Masters. Of course, this reticence or restraint were not peculiarities of `Maltese' recorders and historians. A `non-subjective' approach to chronicle responded closely to the ethos of the age. Why write history? The scope was to teach, in a manner faithful to truth and to theology, and to mould the spirit through learning, abstracting from personal interpolation and researches that pandered to purely subjective curiosity. One could say that, to this limited extent, history then respected privacy more than it does today.peer-reviewe
