Patient safety governance for national and cross-border health information technology

There is an urgent need for effective patient safety governance of health information technology as problems with these systems pose a risk to patient safety. In this panel, national and international experts will provide a review of current national and cross-border initiatives for patient safety governance of health information technology in the European Union, England, Denmark, Netherlands, the USA, Canada and Australia. The presentations will focus on the English Connecting for Health safety management program, the revised European Union medical device directive and North American initiatives to transfer learning and to identify gaps and areas for further work.1 page(s
