Comment le modèle Daisyworld peut-il contribuer à l'hypothèse Gaïa?

International audienceThe Daisyworld model describes an imaginary planet on which a regulation of the temperature emerges out of a strong coupling between life and its environment. This numerical simulation was initially created to answer to a theoretical critique adressed to the Gaïa hypothesis (GH). By precising the epistemic reach of Daisyworld and the nature of the critiques made to GH and then to Daisyworld we assess under which conditions such a model can contribute to the theoretical debate that brought it to existence. We show that certain results are robust, originals and relevant for GH.Résumé Le modèle Daisyworld décrit une planète imaginaire sur laquelle une régulation de la tempéra-ture émerge grâce au couplage fort entre la vie et son environnement. Cette simulation numérique était initialement construite pour répondre à une critique théorique visant l'hypothèse Gaïa (HG). En précisant la portée épistémique de Daisyworld et la nature des critiques adressées à HG puis à Daisyworld nous examinons sous quelles conditions un tel modèle peut contribuer positivement au débat théorique qui l'a fait naître.
