Professional practices, training, and funding mechanisms: A survey of pediatric primary care psychologists
The integration of mental health services in primary care settings has expanded rapidly in recent years with psychologists being at the forefront of efforts to promote healthy behaviors, reduce disease, and care for behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs to promote overall health and well-being for children and families (Asarnow, Kolko, Miranda,&Kazak, 2017; Stancin& Perrin, 2014). While there are many psychologists working in pediatric primary care (PPC), little is known about the specific activities that these psychologists engage in, the training they receive, or funding mechanisms that support their work. This study sought to address this gap in the literature through a survey of psychologists working in PPC. An anonymous online survey was disseminated to members of professional organizations and listservs who were identified as having interest in PPC. Psychologists (N-65) currently practicing in PPC completed the survey by reporting on clinical roles and practices, professional training, practice settings, and funding supports in PPC settings. Results indicate that psychologists assume a number of roles in PPC including providing individual and family therapy, conducting screenings for child mental health concerns, and providing consultation to medical colleagues. Many psychologists also provide supervision and offer educational opportunities for those in related fields, such as medicine and social work. Engagement in research activities was identified as a secondary activity. It was reported that a number of clinical activities were not billed for on a regular basis. Additional areas of research will be discussed along with implications for clinical services in PPC.. © 2017 American Psychological Association
Influence of complex configurations on properties of pygmy dipole resonance in neutron-rich Ca isotopes
Starting from the quasiparticle random phase approximation based on the
Skyrme interaction SLy5, we study the effects of phonon-phonon coupling~(PPC)
on the low-energy electric dipole response in Ca. Using the same set
of parameters we describe available experimental data for Ca and
give prediction for Ca. The inclusion of the PPC results in the
formation of low-energy states. There is an impact of the PPC effect on
low-energy ~strength of Ca. The PPC effect on the electric
dipole polarizability is discussed. We predict a strong increase of the summed
~strength below 10MeV, with increasing neutron number from Ca till

Interior maps in posterior pareital cortex
The posterior parietal cortex (PPC), historically believed to be a sensory structure, is now viewed as an area important for sensory-motor integration. Among its functions is the forming of intentions, that is, high-level cognitive plans for movement. There is a map of intentions within the PPC, with different subregions dedicated to the planning of eye movements, reaching movements, and grasping movements. These areas appear to be specialized for the multisensory integration and coordinate transformations required to convert sensory input to motor output. In several subregions of the PPC, these operations are facilitated by the use of a common distributed space representation that is independent of both sensory input and motor output. Attention and learning effects are also evident in the PPC. However, these effects may be general to cortex and operate in the PPC in the context of sensory-motor transformations
An idea unleashed in history: Dr Martin Luther King Jr and the campaign to end poverty in America
A range of learning opportunities helped to prepare and educate thousands of activists to participate in American civil rights movement campaigns in the 1960s. The adult learning approaches adopted by civil rights activists represented alternatives to conventional educational practices. Adult education was particularly significant in 1968, during what was to become Dr Martin Luther King’s final initiative, the Poor People’s Campaign (PPC). The PPC saw thousands of poor people travel to Washington DC to protest against poverty and to demand legislation which would address economic injustice in the United States. The demonstrators occupied sacred space in Washington DC by building a temporary community, known as Resurrection City. The PPC drew from a rich legacy of adult learning in previous civil rights campaigns including voter registration initiatives. On the journey to the nation’s capital and in Resurrection City itself, Freedom Schools, workshops and demonstrations assisted the protesters to come together in coalition to challenge dominant hegemonic narratives concerning the causes, nature and scope of poverty. The PPC also performed an important public pedagogical role in dramatising the issue of poverty in the United States. Although ultimately unsuccessful in its aspiration to end economic injustice in America, the PPC undoubtedly laid the seeds for future anti-poverty activism. The article draws from five archives
EPICS for PDAs
With the advent of readily available wireless communications and small
hand-held computers, commonly known as personal digital assistants (PDAs), it
is interesting to consider using these portable devices to access a control
system. We have successfully ported the Experimental Physics and Industrial
Control System (EPICS) to Windows CE 3.0 (WCE) for the Pocket PC (PPC), and
this paper describes the issues involved. The PPC was chosen because the WCE
application programming interface (API) for the PPC is a subset of the Win32
API, which EPICS already supports, and because PPC devices tend to have more
memory than other PDAs. PDAs provide several ways to connect to a network,
using wired or wireless Compact Flash or PCMCIA Ethernet cards and modems. It
is the recent advent of readily available wireless networks that makes using
the portable PDA interesting. The status and issues surrounding the various

Damping of the woodwind instrument reed material Arundo donax L
The viscoelastic properties (E', G', tanΦ, δ) of Arundo donax (AD) and a polypropylene-beech fiber composite (PPC) were measured from RT to 580K for various frequencies and strains. E' of AD varies between 5250-6250MPa depending on ageing at RT while E'(RT)=2250MPa of PPC is signifcantly lower. E' of the AD is higher than E' of PPC in the whole investigated temperature range with the exception of AD after a heat treatment up to 575K. Damping spectra exhibit peaks around 340K (Q=234kJ/mol) and 415K for the PPC related to relaxations in the crystalline part of polypropylene and the relaxation at melting temperature. For AD damping peaks were found at 350K (Q=320kJ/mol) related to the glass-rubber transition of lignin, at 420K due to a reorganization in the amorphous phase of lignin, at 480K related to micro-Brownian motions in the non-crystalline region of cell-wall polymers and reduction of the crystallinity of cellulose, and at 570K due to the polymeric compounds of wood and/or a decomposition of lignin. The course of E' and tanΦ of AD and PPC is comparable from 20-200Hz, whereas tanΦ of AD is lower than tanΦ of PPC while E' of AD is higher than E' of PPC.Fil: Weidenfeller, Bernd.
