and colliding in noncommutative space
By studying the scattering process of scalar particle pion on the
noncommutative scalar quantum electrodynamics, the non-commutative amendment of
differential scattering cross-section is found, which is dependent of
polar-angle and the results are significantly different from that in the
commutative scalar quantum electrodynamics, particularly when . The non-commutativity of space is expected to be explored at around

Study of the D^0 \to pi^-pi^+pi^-pi^+ decay
Using data from the FOCUS (E831) experiment at Fermilab, we present new
measurements for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay mode . We measure the branching ratio .
An amplitude analysis has been performed, a first for this channel, in order to
determine the resonant substructure of this decay mode. The dominant component
is the decay , accounting for 60% of the decay rate.
The second most dominant contribution comes from the decay , with a fraction of 25%. We also study the
line shape and resonant substructure. Using the helicity formalism for the
angular distribution of the decay , we measure

Lambda polarization in pp -> p\Lambda K^+ \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-
We show that there is a correlation between the invariant mass of the
produced \Lambda K^+, \Lambda K^+\pi^+\pi^- or \Lambda K^+ \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-
system in the exclusive reaction pp\to p\Lambda K^+\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^- and the
longitudinal or transverse momentum of . Together with the
longitudinal and transverse momentum dependence of Lambda polarization observed
in inclusive reactions, such a correlation implies a dependence of Lambda
polarization on these invariant masses. The qualitative features of this
dependence are consistent with the recent observation by E766 collaboration at
BNL. A quantitative estimation has been made using an event generator for
collisions. A detailed comparison with the data is made.Comment: 10 pages with 3 figures, submitted to J. Phys.
The interaction in nuclear matter from a study of the reactions
The pion-production reactions were studied on
, , , and nuclei at an incident pion energy
of =283 MeV. Pions were detected in coincidence using the CHAOS
spectrometer. The experimental results are reduced to differential cross
sections and compared to both theoretical predictions and the reaction phase
space. The composite ratio between the
invariant masses on nuclei and on the nucleon is also presented. Near the
threshold pion pairs couple to when produced in
the reaction channel. There is a marked near-threshold
enhancement of which is consistent with theoretical
predictions addressing the partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear
matter. Furthermore, the behaviour of is well
described when the restoration of chiral symmetry is combined with standard
P-wave renormalization of pions in nuclear matter. On the other hand, nuclear
matter only weakly influences , which displays a flat
behaviour throughout the energy range regardless of .Comment: 30 pages, 16 figures, PS format, accepted for publication in Nucl.

Phase Motion in the Scalar Low-Mass Amplitude in
This work is a direct and model-independent measurement of the low mass
phase motion in the decay. The results
show a strong phase variation, compatible with an isoscalar
meson. This result confirms the previous Fermilab E791 result which found
evidence for the existence of this scalar particle using a full Dalitz-plot

scattering S wave from the data on the reaction
The results of the recent experiments on the reaction
performed at KEK, BNL, IHEP, and CERN are analyzed in detail. For the I=0
S wave phase shift and inelasticity a new set
of data is obtained. Difficulties emerging when using the physical solutions
for the S and D wave amplitudes extracted with the partial wave
analyses are discussed. Attention is drawn to the fact that, for the
invariant mass, m, above 1 GeV, the other solutions, in principle,
are found to be more preferred. For clarifying the situation and further
studying the resonance thorough experimental investigations of the
reaction in the m region near the threshold
