The Tutor's Role

This chapter addresses three questions about being an effective online tutor: 1. Why do we still think that online tutoring can principally draw its basis from face-to-face group processes and dynamics or traditional pedagogy? 2. Does the literature tell us anything more than we would make as an intelligent guess? 3. Do we really know what an ‘effective’ online tutor would be doing? The OTiS participants have gone some way to answering these questions, through the presentation and discussion of their own online tutoring experiences. Literature in this area is still limited, and suffers from the need for timeliness of publication to be useful. Intelligent guesses are all very well, but much better as a source of information for online tutors are the reflections and documented experiences of practitioners. These experiences reveal that face-to-face pedagogy has some elements to offer the online tutor, but that there are key differences and there is a need to examine the processes and dynamics of online learning to inform online tutoring

Investasi Pendidikan Melalui Keikutsertaan Bimbingan Belajar Online: Mampukah Mempengaruhi Hasil Belajar Siswa?

One form of household expenditure is in the form of education investment. Investment in education has a good impact on the future of children. Participation in online tutoring is one way for parents to support their child's education. This study aims to determine the effect of student participation in online tutoring on learning outcomes of economics subjects in class XI IPS SMAN 14 Surabaya. This study uses regression analysis techniques with dummy variables. This study resulted in a significant and positive effect of student participation in online tutoring on learning outcomes. The acquisition of student learning outcomes is greater when students participate in online tutoring compared to students who do not take online tutoring

It was organised by Heriot–Watt University, Edinburgh and The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK. Out of this workshop came the seminal Online Tutoring E-Book, a generic primer on e-learning pedagogy and methodology, full of practical implementation guidelines. Although the Scotcit programme ended some years ago, the E-Book has been copied to the SONET site as a series of PDF files, which are now available via the ALT Open Access Repository. The editor, Carol Higgison, is currently working in e-learning at the University of Bradford (see her staff profile) and is the Chair of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT)

Pengaruh Penggunaan Iklan dan Brand Ambassador Terhadap Minat Beli Konsumen Pada Layanan Bimbel Online

This research was conducted 1) to determine the partially significant effect of advertising on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jember. 2) To find out the partially significant effect of brand ambassadors on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jember. 3) To determine the simultaneous significant effect of advertising and brand ambassadors on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jember. The population in this study were students of class X and XI at SMAN 3 Jember. The type of research used by the researcher is descriptive research using multiple linear regression analysis method with data processing using the SPSS 22 program. Hypothesis testing in this study uses t test and f test with a value level of a = 5%. The results of this study indicate that 1) partially advertising has a significant effect on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jember, while 2) brand ambassadors partially have no significant effect on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jember. 3) Simultaneously, advertising and brand ambassadors have a significant effect on consumer buying interest in online tutoring services at SMAN 3 Jembe
