The history of degenerate (bipartite) extremal graph problems
This paper is a survey on Extremal Graph Theory, primarily focusing on the
case when one of the excluded graphs is bipartite. On one hand we give an
introduction to this field and also describe many important results, methods,

Lombardi Drawings of Graphs
We introduce the notion of Lombardi graph drawings, named after the American
abstract artist Mark Lombardi. In these drawings, edges are represented as
circular arcs rather than as line segments or polylines, and the vertices have
perfect angular resolution: the edges are equally spaced around each vertex. We
describe algorithms for finding Lombardi drawings of regular graphs, graphs of
bounded degeneracy, and certain families of planar graphs.Comment: Expanded version of paper appearing in the 18th International

Planar Drawings of Fixed-Mobile Bigraphs
A fixed-mobile bigraph G is a bipartite graph such that the vertices of one
partition set are given with fixed positions in the plane and the mobile
vertices of the other part, together with the edges, must be added to the
drawing. We assume that G is planar and study the problem of finding, for a
given k >= 0, a planar poly-line drawing of G with at most k bends per edge. In
the most general case, we show NP-hardness. For k=0 and under additional
constraints on the positions of the fixed or mobile vertices, we either prove
that the problem is polynomial-time solvable or prove that it belongs to NP.
Finally, we present a polynomial-time testing algorithm for a certain type of
"layered" 1-bend drawings
Short proofs of some extremal results
We prove several results from different areas of extremal combinatorics,
giving complete or partial solutions to a number of open problems. These
results, coming from areas such as extremal graph theory, Ramsey theory and
additive combinatorics, have been collected together because in each case the
