Incorporating FCM and Back Propagation Neural Network for Image Segmentation

    Get PDF
Hybrid image segmentation is proposed in this paper. The input image is firstly preprocessed in order to extract the features using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) .The features are then fed to Fuzzy C-means algorithm which is unsupervised. The membership function created by Fuzzy C-means (FCM) is used as a target to be fed in neural network. Then the Back Propagation Neural network (BPN) has been trained based on targets which is obtained by (FCM) and features as input data. Combining the FCM information and neural network in unsupervised manner lead us to achieve better segmentation .The proposed algorithm is tested on various Berkeley database gray level images

Fuzzy Logic (FL) together with Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is used to predict the software reliability. Fuzzy Min-Max algorithm is used to optimize the number of the kgaussian nodes in the hidden layer and delayed input neurons. The optimized recurrentneural network is used to dynamically reconfigure in real-time as actual software failure. In this work, an enhanced fuzzy min-max algorithm together with recurrent neural network based machine learning technique is explored and a comparative analysis is performed for the modeling of reliability prediction in software systems. The model has been applied on data sets collected across several standard software projects during system testing phase with fault removal. The performance of our proposed approach has been tested using distributed system application failure data set

Unstructured Object Recognition using Morphological Learning

A technique of object recognition which can detect absence or presence of objects of interest without making explicit use of their underlying geometric structure is deemed suitable for many practical applications. In this work, a method of recognising unstructured objects has been presented, wherein several gray patterns are input as examples to a morphological rule-based learning algorithm. The output of the algorithm are the corresponding gray structuring elements capable of recognising patterns in query images. The learning is carried out offline before recognition of the queries. The technique has been tested to identify fuel pellet surface imperfections. Robustness wrt intensity, orientation, and shape variations of the query patterns is built into the method. Moreover, simplicity of the recognition process leading to reduced computational time makes the method attractive to solve many practical problems

A perceptron based neural network data analytics architecture for the detection of fraud in credit card transactions in financial legacy systems

    Get PDF
Credit card fraud, a significant and growing problem in commerce that costs the global economy billions of dollars each year, has kept up with technological advancements as criminals devise new and innovative methods to defraud account holders, merchants, and financial institutions. While traditional fraudulent methods involved card cloning, skimming, and counterfeiting during transactional processes, the rapid adoption and evolution of Internet technologies aimed at facilitating trade has given rise to new digitally initiated illegitimate transactions, with online credit card fraud beginning to outpace physical world transactions. According to the literature, the financial industry has used statistical methods and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to keep up with fraudulent card patterns, but there appears to be little effort to provide neural network architectures with proven results that can be adapted to financial legacy systems. The paper examines the feasibility and practicality of implementing a proof-of-concept Perceptron-based Artificial Neural Network (ANN) architecture that can be directly plugged into a legacy paradigm financial system platform that has been trained on specific fraudulent patterns. When using a credit checking subscription service, such a system could act as a backup

In this paper, we propose two new neuro--fuzzy schemes, one for classification and one for clustering problems. The classification scheme is based on Simpson's Fuzzy Min Max method, and relaxes some assumptions he makes. This enables our scheme to handle mutually non exclusive classes. The neuro--fuzzy clustering scheme is a multiresolution algorithm that is modeled after the mechanics of human pattern recognition. We also present data from an exhaustive comparison of these techniques with neural, statistical, machine learning and other traditional approaches to pattern recognition applications. The data sets used for comparisons include those from the machine learning repository at the University of California, Irvine. We find that our proposed schemes compare quite well with the existing techniques, and in addition offer the advantages of one pass learning and on--line adaptation.
