Efficient preprocessing is very essential for automatic recognition of handwritten documents. In this paper, techniques on segmenting words in handwritten Arabic text are presented. Firstly, connected components (ccs) are extracted, and distances among different components are analyzed. The statistical distribution of this distance is then obtained to determine an optimal threshold for words segmentation. Meanwhile, an improved projection based method is also employed for baseline detection. The proposed method has been successfully tested on IFN/ENIT database consisting of 26459 Arabic words handwritten by 411 different writers, and the results were promising and very encouraging in more accurate detection of the baseline and segmentation of words for further recognition

Many methods of segmentation using detection of segmentation points or where the location of segmentation points is expected before the segmentation process,  the validity of segmentation points is verified by using ANNs. In this paper apply a novel method to detect correctly of location segmentation points by detect of peaks with neural networks for Arabic word. This method employs baseline and peaks identification; where using two steps to segmenting text. Where peaks identification function is applied which at the subword segment level to frame the minimum and maximum peaks, and baseline detection. Where these two steps have led to the best result through the model depends on minimum peaks attained by utilising a stroke operator with a view to extracting potential points of segmentation, and determining the baseline procedure was developed to approximate the parameters. Where this method has yielded highly accurate positive results for Arabic characters’ segmentation with four kinds of handwritten datasets as AHDB, IFN-ENIT, AHDB-FTR and ACDAR. Earlier results showed that the use of EDMS to MLP_ANN gives better results than GLCM and MOMENT in different groups and gives results of EDMS features on MNN with an accuracy level of 95.09% classifier for IFN-ENIT set of data

In Computer vision systems, computer vision works by imitating humans in their vision way which is known as the human vision system (HVS). In HVS, humans use their eyes and brains in order to see and classify any object around them. Hence, computer vision systems imitate HSV by developing several algorithms for classifying images and objects. The main goal of this paper is to propose a model for identifying and classifying the Arabic handwritten digits with high accuracy.  The concept of deep learning via the convolutional neural network (CNN) with the ADBase database is used to achieve the goal. The training is done by having a 3*3 and 5*5 filters. Basically, while the classification phase distinct learning rates are used to train the network. The obtained results are encouraging and promising

Oiahcr: online isolated arabic handwritten character recognition using neural network.

In this paper, an online isolated Arabic handwritten character recognition system is introduced. The system can be adapted to achieve the demands of hand-held and digital tablet applications. To achieve this goal, despite of single neural networks, four neural networks are used, one for each cluster of characters. Feed forward back propagation neural networks are used in classification process. This approach is employed as classifiers due to the low computation overhead during training and recall process. The system recognizes on-line isolated Arabic character and achieves an accuracy rate 9٥. 7% from untrained writers and 99.1% for trained writers
