Two OSO's scheduled in series
Orbiting Solar Observatories OSO-E and OSO-D for studying Sun influence on Earth atmospher
Solar coronal non-thermal processes (Solar Maximum Mission)
The Solar Maximum Mission was used to study solar coronal phenomena in hard X-radiation, since its instrument complement included the first solar hard X-ray telescope. Phenomena related to those discovered from OSO-5 and OSO-7 observations were emphasized
Skeletal malformations among the Clarias species from fish mongers in Ekiti State
Clarias species purchased from fish mongers from Ado – Ekiti, Ikun Ekiti, Itapaji – Ekiti Nigeria were examined for possible deformities in any part of their body. A total number of 360, 140, and 40 fish samples were from Ado – Ekiti, Ikun – Ekiti, and Itapaji – Ekiti respectively. Deformities of various types were observed only from Ado – Ekiti collection. The deformities observed are malformed mouth, big head, stumpy body, and multiple vertebral deformities. The possible cause (s) of the deformities may be as a result of stress, pollution from human activities or other factors such as poor nutrition, hereditary, diseases, etc. but these causes has not been properly determine
Neutron Stars with a Stable, Light Supersymmetric Baryon
If a light gluino exists, the lightest gluino-containing baryon, the \OSO, is
a possible candidate for self-interacting dark matter. In this scenario, the
simplest explanation for the observed ratio
is that \MeVcs; this is not at present excluded by particle
physics. Such an \OSO could be present in neutron stars, with hyperon formation
serving as an intermediate stage. We calculate equilibrium compositions and
equation of state for high density matter with the \OSO, and find that for a
wide range of parameters the properties of neutron stars with the \OSO are
consistent with observations. In particular, the maximum mass of a nonrotating
star is , and the presence of the \OSO is helpful in
reconciling observed cooling rates with hyperon formation.Comment: ApJL submitted, 4 pages, using emulateapj (very very minor changes to

Ultraviolet spectrometer and polarimeter (UVSP) software development and hardware tests for the solar maximum mission
The Ultraviolet Spectrometer/Polarimeter Instrument (UVSP) for the Solar Maximum Mission (SMM) was based on the re-use of the engineering model of the high resolution ultraviolet spectrometer developed for the OSO-8 mission. Lockheed assumed four distinct responsibilities in the UVSP program: technical evaluation of the OSO-8 engineering model; technical consulting on the electronic, optical, and mechanical modifications to the OSO-8 engineering model hardware; design and development of the UVSP software system; and scientific participation in the operations and analysis phase of the mission. Lockheed also provided technical consulting and assistance with instrument hardware performance anomalies encountered during the post launch operation of the SMM observatory. An index to the quarterly reports delivered under the contract are contained, and serves as a useful capsule history of the program activity
