Natural Stone Waste Powders Applied to SCC Mix Design
In order to comply with current trends concerning sustainability, saving of primary materials and energy\ud
savings, this paper addresses Eco-concrete. The major focus thereby is on the increased efficiency of cement\ud
use. Applying a new mix design method for concrete, cement contents can be decreased and partially be substituted\ud
by other fine powders, preferentially by waste powders which have no mass application so far. This\ud
paper is giving examples of successfully introduced waste powders and characterizes the concretes produced\ud
with these powders. These innovative, low cement concrete types obtain medium strength and exhibit furthermore\ud
self-compacting abilities. This paper additionally highlights possibilities for the direct use of natural\ud
stone sludges or filter cakes. A new grading based design method, developed in the authors’ research\ud
group, enables the efficient use of all materials available. The method is applicable to self-compacting concretes,\ud
earth-moist concretes and conventionally vibrated concretes

Lightweight SFRC benefitting from a pre-soaking and internal curing process
The presented research program is focused on the design of a structural lightweight fiber-reinforced concrete harnessing an internal curing process. Pre-soaked waste red ceramic fine aggregate and pre-soaked artificial clay expanded coarse aggregate were utilized for the creation of the mix. Copper-coated steel fiber was added to the mix by volume in amounts of 0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5%. Test specimens in forms of cubes, cylinders, and beams were tested to specify the concrete characteristics. Such properties as consistency, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, static and dynamic modulus of elasticity, flexural characteristics, and shear strength were of special interest. The achieved concrete can be classified as LC12/13. A strength class, according to fib Model Code, was also assigned to the concretes in question. The proposed method of preparation of concrete mix using only pre-soaked aggregate (with no extra water) proved to be feasible.Web of Science1224art. no. 415
The Product-Mix Auction: A New Auction Design for Differentiated Goods
Klemperer describes a new static (sealed-bid) auction for differentiated goods—the “Product-Mix Auction”. Bidders bid on multiple assets simultaneously, and bidtakers choose supply functions across assets. The auction yields greater efficiency, revenue, information, and trade than running multiple separate auctions. It is also often simpler to use and understand, and less vulnerable to collusion, than a simultaneous multiple round auction. Klemperer designed it after the 2007 Northern Rock bank-run to help the Bank of England fight the credit crunch; in 2008 the U.S. Treasury planned using a related design to buy “toxic assets”; it may be used to purchase electricity.
Design of a tunable, room temperature, continuous-wave terahertz source and detector using silicon waveguides
We describe the design of a silicon-based source for radiation in the 0.5-14 THz regime. This new class of devices will permit continuously tunable, milliwatt scale, cw, room temperature operation, a substantial advance over currently available technologies. Our silicon terahertz generator consists of a silicon waveguide for near-infrared radiation, contained within a metal waveguide for terahertz radiation. A nonlinear polymer cladding permits two near-infrared lasers to mix, and through difference-frequency generation produces terahertz output. The small dimensions of the design greatly increase the optical fields, enhancing the nonlinear effect. The design can also be used to detect terahertz radiation

. This paper discussed about the effects of mineral additions on mix-design of concrete based on service life analysis. The service life analysis was modeled as function of raw material characteristics and mix-design of concrete. The deterioration of concrete structure that caused by corrosion became consideration of service life analysis in this paper. The results of simulation show that adding silicafume to mix-design concrete is most effective method to increase the service life of concrete structure. Furthermore, adding silicafume, slag, and fly ash to mix-design of concrete make concrete more friendly to global environment
Methodological bricolage: What does it tell us about design?
This paper explores an approach to design research that is becoming more prevalent in practice-based doctoral studies and examines what it tells us about the current state of design research. A previous examination of design PhD case studies has shown that the bricolage approach is evident in a majority of contemporary practice-based design PhDs [1]. The usual academic norm of using an established method or methodology is often discarded in favour of a ‘pick and mix’ approach to select and apply the most appropriate methods. Does it suggest a discipline in crisis, where existing methods are unfit for purpose? Or does this suggest that design as a discipline is maturing and developing a distinct research model? Is design undisciplined? The paper answers these questions by proposing that design researchers navigate a complex, indeterminate and temporal framework where the bricoleur is the best operative

Dari analisis regresi linier berganda disimpulkan bahwa retail mix yang meliputi customer service, location, pricing, store design and display, merchandise assortment, dan communication berpengaruh terhadap minat beli konsumen di Keraton Department Store, baik secara simultan maupun secara parsial.
