MedicSCORE and the evaluation of ClinicCoach

    No full text
A universally designed system has many and various requisites. The system needs to be accessible and usable by as many users and in as many contexts as possible. To ensure that it adheres to universal design (UD) and accessibility principles, it needs to be tested. The evaluation of such a system must also be multivariate otherwise the many aspects that need to be taken into consideration for a universally designed system will be missed. The MedicSCORE model developed by the usability engineering team at the Fraunhofer IAO aims to provide a multifaceted and holistic framework for the design and evaluation of electronic health records (EHR). The MedicSCORE model is described in this Chapter, as well as the results of an expert evaluation that can be carried out in a relatively short period of time and at low cost. The evaluation, which essentially consists of an expert screening and a user observation, is based on the MedicSCORE framework. The application tested is called ClinicCoach, an electronic patient record (EPR) developed by HIG Coachit (for information, please refer to the ClinicCoach scenario in Chapter 7)
