Resource Allocation for Downlink Multi-Cell OFDMA Cognitive Radio Network Using Hungarian Method
This paper considers the problem of resource allocation for downlink part of an OFDM-based multi-cell cognitive radio network which consists of multiple secondary transmitters and receivers communicating simultaneously in the presence of multiple primary users. We present a new framework to maximize the total data throughput of secondary users by means of subchannel assignment, while ensuring interference leakage to PUs is below a threshold. In this framework, we first formulate the resource allocation problem as a nonlinear and non-convex optimization problem. Then we represent the problem as a maximum weighted matching in a bipartite graph and propose an iterative algorithm based on Hungarian method to solve it. The present contribution develops an efficient subchannel allocation algorithm that assigns subchannels to the secondary users without the perfect knowledge of fading channel gain between cognitive radio transmitter and primary receivers. The performance of the proposed subcarrier allocation algorithm is compared with a blind subchannel allocation as well as another scheme with the perfect knowledge of channel-state information. Simulation results reveal that a significant performance advantage can still be realized, even if the optimization at the secondary network is based on imperfect network information
Sub-channel Assignment, Power Allocation and User Scheduling for Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Networks
In this paper, we study the resource allocation and user scheduling problem
for a downlink nonorthogonal multiple access network where the base station
allocates spectrum and power resources to a set of users. We aim to jointly
optimize the sub-channel assignment and power allocation to maximize the
weighted total sum-rate while taking into account user fairness. We formulate
the sub-channel allocation problem as equivalent to a many-to-many two-sided
user-subchannel matching game in which the set of users and sub-channels are
considered as two sets of players pursuing their own interests. We then propose
a matching algorithm which converges to a two-side exchange stable matching
after a limited number of iterations. A joint solution is thus provided to
solve the sub-channel assignment and power allocation problems iteratively.
Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm greatly outperforms the
orthogonal multiple access scheme and a previous non-orthogonal multiple access
scheme.Comment: Accepted as a regular paper by IEEE Transactions on Wireless

Performance Analysis of Heterogeneous Feedback Design in an OFDMA Downlink with Partial and Imperfect Feedback
Current OFDMA systems group resource blocks into subband to form the basic
feedback unit. Homogeneous feedback design with a common subband size is not
aware of the heterogeneous channel statistics among users. Under a general
correlated channel model, we demonstrate the gain of matching the subband size
to the underlying channel statistics motivating heterogeneous feedback design
with different subband sizes and feedback resources across clusters of users.
Employing the best-M partial feedback strategy, users with smaller subband size
would convey more partial feedback to match the frequency selectivity. In order
to develop an analytical framework to investigate the impact of partial
feedback and potential imperfections, we leverage the multi-cluster subband
fading model. The perfect feedback scenario is thoroughly analyzed, and the
closed form expression for the average sum rate is derived for the
heterogeneous partial feedback system. We proceed to examine the effect of
imperfections due to channel estimation error and feedback delay, which leads
to additional consideration of system outage. Two transmission strategies: the
fix rate and the variable rate, are considered for the outage analysis. We also
investigate how to adapt to the imperfections in order to maximize the average
goodput under heterogeneous partial feedback.Comment: To appear in IEEE Trans. on Signal Processin
